REMOVAL OF TREES:
Request for removal of tree at 24 Railroad Avenue was received from James
Ashworth and also a request from Howard J. Radcliffe of 26 Railroad Avenue~
for removal of a tree in front of his home. There are five ~rees here and
cause dampness and .darkness. Mr. ¢oanors stated that there are too many .
trees and two should.be removed. The board voted to refer this to. Tree
Warden~John J' Oonnors and have the trees posted for a hearing on October
14, 1946 at 7:30 P.M.
LAWRENCE GAS &ELECTRIC COMPAq: - .:
Permission was granted unanimously tothe Lawrence Sas & Electric Company
to excavate on Greene Street near BrAdstreet Road for the installation
of a new gas main, FOR George Wallack, 33' on street.

for permission to locate poles, wires and ,fixtures ,and to abe~don 96 poles

approximately 110 feet*northerly from ~illside Road, northerly 4 poles;'~.on
the westerly wide of'Turnpike Stree~ between a point appror, tmately 1220
feet southerly from Hillside Road and:a point approximately 150 feet northerly
from Chestnut Street,'20 poles; on the westerly side,of Turnpike Street
between a. point appro~imately 240 feet woutherly from Chesthut Street and
~oston Street,.20 poIes.
Mr. Barry'was present from the above company and explained that there would
be a span of 145 to 150 feet. Mr. Da~ensau appeared before the board.and
,wanted to knowwhatl~ was allabeut.
Acting chief engineer and he was satisfied with this span and thatlthe'.Fire
Department would':havs to Spend out about $100 tohavs the fire alarm wires~,
· changed over to the new poles. This was discussed for some tiao'and a;motion
was made by Mr. Finneranto grant this request. The motion was seconded,and
voted unamtmously. '

A letter was received from the Land:Court, by Williwm T. Fairclough, Engineer
for the Court ~_d a copy of the results of. calculations made in this department
to try to straighten out the differences which have been: troubling Mr. ':Rzasseur
and Mr. Cyr, the engineers concerned in this subdivision. No errors found other
than As' indicated at the rear Of lots 12-A And 12ab which do not affects,the block.
One difference which has been brought out By these calculations is that'the
intersection of the southereasterly side of Rerrick Road with Massachusetts Avenue
lies. 2.19 feet north wes~ of the intersection of the easterly line of Re~'~oad
Street with the northeasterly line of Massachusetts Aven~e. Thio difference may
be the reason that it has been ,reported that the frontage of the :registered parcel
was 215.30 and not 213;11 feet aa registered. Filed under L~_d Court.

Chief McEee did not attend the.maeting Aa he has been---ble, ~o.get. the :figures
required for new signs and to discuss a survey of such signs' a~ may be .necessary.
Mr. Thomson received a request for a warning sign on Academ~ R~ad, as ther,~/has
been considerable s~ee~ing ,along there.' The. board voted to request.thisL~arning
sign and ask that tbs speeding be checked. It was also voted to ask where .the new
warning sign was to be located near Russell Street as it is now in a poor location
fox' motorists. A letter to be sent to the Chief.
