Mr. Salisbury said he diderot feel that the selectmen could bind ~them-
selves until the next town meeting. -
Mr. Hargreaves said he was taking the rights of.1460 'people away and
he may get away with it and be may not.
Mr, Finneran then said he felt the same way about this ~uestion.
Mr. Salisbury then withdrew his motion.
Mr. Thomson informed Hr. Hargreaves that he had made his position ~'~
clear to this board. Mr. Hargeaves thanked the members of the board;!
The matter was then dropped rwithout any further discussion.
MEETING ADJOURNED
A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held~,at~ 1:30 P.M. due to the
holiday(Armistice Dayl falling on Monday).. Weekly bills and payrolls~
were approved. · -
PRECINCT OFFICER:
The matter of appointing an inspector in Precinct On.e was~held over'l;
uhtil the 'nett meeting.
TREE tL~t0VAL HEARING:
A hearing was held on the petition of James P. Phelan of 21 FirstiStreet
for the removal of a tree at this address. Mr. Connors was present·
and stated that this tree should be, removed'as they have 'had trouble
with it previously. The board voted unanimously to have the'tree~ '11'
warden remove this tree.

that the papers were left by.the paper[.boys. They had the boys ct~an

Mr. Salisbury suggested that this matter be referred to ~. Mahoney~
to see if the town has the legal right to spend town funds for damage ' '
of this kind. He felt'that until the people voted to give this~power
to the Selectmento spend funds for this purpose, no action shoutd~be
taken unless Mr. Mahoney finds that the board has the legal powe~ ~o.·
pay such a bill. He felt that~this matter arises frequently e~o~g~.so ·
that we could establish a policy, for the future.
