Parker Street at the westerly side of Grassmere St. 1 pole. On the southerly side of Psrker Street, approximately 104 feet easterly from Grassmere Street, 1 pole. Motion was made and seconded Shat a hearing be held on February 3, 1947*~ at 7:30 P.M. Abutters to be notified. STREET LIGHT-INGLEW00D STREET: Letter received from the Lawrence Gas & Electric Company informing the 'board that equipmen~ is still lacking for the installation of the street light'~' requested on pole 2945 on Inglewood Street. However, Mr. Frost believes' that this light will be installed within the nexttwo weeks. Mr. Mammina Jill be so notified. AMERICAN LEGION:' An invitation from the North Andover Post.219, American Legion inviting the board to attend "open house" on January 29, was received with pleasure and an acknowledgment will be sent to the :Post. He suggested a Joint meeting with- the Planning Board, representation frgm the Board of Assessors, Town Teeasurer; Pmlph Brasseur, Advisory Veterans Housing Committee, Ira D. Carty, Board' of Public Works and perhaps all Could az~ive at a Joint conclusion. The board decided to hold .this , ..':,: meeting on February 3~ 1947 at 8:00 P.M. if the State Board of Housing ~ decided that there was an acute shortage of housing £or veterans in No~thl Andover. VETERANS SERVICE DIREcToR: .-~ '~ The board discussed the salary to be paid to the Director 'of Veterans Mr/. Salisbury made the suggestion that the Veteran' s Agent, handle the Veterans' services and also the information center and perhaps have office hourss.~two nights in North Andover and go to Boxford one night each week and he' on'Jcall in case of emergency. The board finally agreed that the salary and expenses should be $700.00. This will be taken up with Harry Cole of Boxford to see what his reaction is and how he feels about Boxford's. share. JANUARY 20 1~-'-continued ., FOR VETEP~AN~ Mr. Thomson informed the board that the matter of ~ed~lsTfor the Veterans would be held in abeyance until the report of the Memorial Committee is received. ACCIDENT- MBS. FOSTER: The matter of the accident involving Mrs. Foster of the Town Infirmary and '~another person and car was referred to C. J. Mahoney for his consideration. Mrs. Foster will see Mr. Mahomey and give him the details of the accident. The accident happened on January 12, 1947 at 12:15 P.M. noon and son Nathan was in the car with Mrs. Foster. Frank Nelson of South Essex was the other person involved. Orin Foster called to,say tb~t he had two estimates on the truck, one for $125.00 which would take care cf the side hit by the machine involved and an additional $25.00 to fix up the other side. Mr. Narushoff of South Bradford Street gave this figure. William Arsenault's estimate was $200 to put the truck in ~hape. No action was taken. POSTPONEMENT OF 48-hour for Firemen: Two bills H-1435 and H-1436 have been introduced in the Rouse of Representative~ but have not been printed as yet. Copies of the bills were sent to this board. Filed under Fire Departmant. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING: The Board of Selectmen adjourned at 7:30 o'clock to attend the Special Town Meeting held in the Court Room at this time. The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:00 P.M. with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved. BOXEORD-SELECTMEN: Harry Gole came before the Board and discussed the salary for the Direceor of Veterans Services. Mr. Cole was in accordance with the figure that this board had decided upon and Boxford will pay their share ,as required by law. CLERGY OF THE CHURCHES OF NORTH ANDOVER: Rev. ClintOn Carrel appeared before theB~ard with'Rev. Cornelis Heys, Rev. Alexander and Rev. Ralph D. York and read a letter to the Board of ~Selectmen in which'they clergy o2 the ~ownexpressedtheir unqualified support of the Selectmenin their purpose to uphold the administration of law in North Andover and to promote law enforcement and good government. The letter was signed by the above clergymen and also by Ref. Father Francis L. Shea. Mr.' Thomson informed the clergymen~that this b6ard appreciate their con,id'once in the Selectmen and thanked them for coming in. COUNTY COMMISSIONE~: iLetter from the Gounty Oommissioners stating ~hat the amount estimated to be necessary to pay to the various funds of the Essex County Retirement System payable by the Town of North Andovar beginning January 1, 1947 As as follows: Pension Fund $7,360.33 Special Fund for Military Service CredZts 438.87 Expense Fund 320.80 8,120.00 This amount will he put in as a budget appropriation by Mr. Maker. JUROR DRAWN: .Mr. Finneran drew the name of John McDuffie of 286 Middlesex Street, Foreman to serve as alraverse Juror in Superior Court, Salem on 2/17/1947. NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE& TELEGRAPH C0~PANY: LAWRENCE G & E CO.. A petition from this company covering the transfer to the Light Company of 1 joint pole on Massachusetts corner of Mommonwealth Avenue ,was approved by the board. No hearing required. Petition of the two companies covering the proposed Joint pole on Hillside Road in North Andover which requires a hearing. The board set a hearing for February 10, 1947 at 7:15 P.M, in the Selectmen's Office. Abutters will 'be notified.
