DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORES-OONTRAGT NO. 10209
A copy of the contract No. 10209 covering work to be done in this ~own this
year under 'the provision of Section 34, Chapter 90 of the General Laws, Tot. Ed.
ACTION ON TAFT-ELLENDER-WAGNERBILL:
The Selectmen signed a petition asking that action be taken on the Taft-Ellendar-
Wagner Bill, S 866 on Veteran's Housing and it was sent to the Senator.
VETERANS, HOUSING:
'Information was received from the K.V. Wolsey Company, ~nc. stating tha~ they
would BO pleased to supply this town with full and complete details regarding
design, construcnioa and financing of Wolsey Homes, and engineers and architects
are available to consult with the officials at any time. A copy was sent
to Mr. Arthur Sunderland.
BERRY PONDRESERVATION:
~received fromM rs. J. Alla~ Hur~ of ~4Park Street, Newton, relative
to the Berry.Pond Reservation for pichiokers. She was referred to the Harold
Parker State Forest officials for further information.
HOWELL Bi~HR3150 and HAWKES BILL~.~70:
Information was received explaining the above bills from the Insurance
· Economics S~ciety of America and asking that the Selectmen advise the
representatives in Congress of'their views. No action was:taken.

Mr;~Finneran.hrought up the matter of. Cattle .OrossingSigns on Wilcox property
on. Lacy Street and.the hoard suggested that this matter be taken up with
the~BighwaySurveyerand also the Chief of Police.
SLOW-CHILDREN SIGNS~ u' ..
Mr. Salisbury again·hroughtup the matter of' about :thirty children playing
°n"Belmo~:Street and suggested that although the traffic is not.heavy, he
Believes ~hat there should be. sume.signa down there to warn motorists that
· there'are children in* the vicinity. This will be taken up with Chief. Mckee.
The .Board came in to .sign the weekly bilis and payrollg.~ No meeting was held
on this day. ~
The regular by-monthly meeting oftha Board of Selectmen.was held on this
day, Weekly bills and payrotlswere approved.'
REQUEST FORREMOVALOF TREE: ,-
Christopher Flanagan of 316 Middlesex Street requested thc'removal of a tree
on Railroad Avenue near 'the corner of ~errick and. Railroad Avenue. Mr;
· Elanagan Believes he can sell this property if the tree is removed. The
matter was referred to Mr. Oonnors who stated that the tree is ver~large and
'~-. £s'in'the middle of the sidewalk.: :A 'hearing was set for July 2~, 1947 in the
Se[edtmen's Office at 7:25.P.M. .....
~'BATHING BEAOH:.OOMPLAINT:
'Mr. Finneranreportedthat'he~hadreceivedcomplaints aboutpersons using
the Bathing Beach after .12 o'clock at night and that it is very disturbing.
The board discussed this matter and voted to refer this to .the police with the
suggestion that they patrol the Beach during the late hours and put a stop
to this practice. '
LAW,CE GAS &ELECTRIC COMPANY- PETITION:
A petition from the Lawrence G &E Company for'permission to run and
excavate to repair a leak on gas-$ain om HolBrook Road near Mass. Ave.
was received and the board voted unanimous~ to grant permission.
Petition for permission to locate poles, wires and fixtures on the northerly
side of Hailrmad Avenue from a point approximately 210 feet easterly from
Turnpike Street, easterly, 9 poles was accepted by the hoard'and a hearing
set for July 25, 1947 at 7:30 P.M. AButters notified.
