DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION:
Approval receiyed for James F. Stewart of 340 Railroad Ave. for a~endance at
the Lawrence E?ning Industrial School, department- firing.
LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY:
Letter received informing the bo, rd that the company recommends that the light
on pole 730 be relocated ~o pole NET 121/5 in front of the V.F.W. headquarters
on Park Street and that the size of the light be increased to 2500 lumens.
The b6ard voted unanimously to accept the recommendtion of the company.
~ETING ADJOURNED:
The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:00 P.M. with
all member~ presenm. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
WARP~T OPENED:
The~Selectmen voted to open the warrant as of December 22, 1947 and declare it
to be closed'on January 12, 1948 a~ eight o'clock: This notice will be posted
in the newspaper.

DEP~RTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS:
· Notice received that the Commissioners had approved, as of ~ovember 5, 1947, the
. .~work'done under the provisions of Section 34, Chapter 90 of the G.L. in~the
maintenance of Chapter 90 roads under contract no. 10472, dated August 26, 1947.
COMPLAINT:
Mrs; Helen'.Baldwin of 101 Marblehead Street, North Andover reported to the Police
Shat' she had' fallen on the sidewalk in front of the police station. She was
accompanied by-Margare~ Devine, 25 Sargent St. and Edit Ibbotson of 29 First
Street. She complained of pain in her right knee and eight thumb. Officer Shine
tbok her to Dr. Wallwork's office for treatment. Officer Shine that the section
of cement is tilted causing it to rise about one inch on the inner side of the
and d~op about the same at the edge of the curb. Mrs. Baldwin stated that she
tripped on the high edge and there was a scuff mark on the walk at this point.

TRANSFER FROMRESERVEYFUND:
Approval for the transfer of $60.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Grogan,s Field
Playground appropriation to take care of unpaid~bills for the year 1947 was
received.
DEPARTMENT OF THEATTORNEY ~ENERAL:
AL cop%of a letter to the Town Clerk from the Attorney General's Office was
received which is in relation to the maps for zoning changes, giving information
as to the size of maps required and asking for reasons from the planning board
to justify the changes. The information required should be such as is required
'under section 27, chapter 40. No action was taken.
SUTTONS MILLS - FENCE AROUND POND:
Repl¥~receivedfrom Suttons Mill relative mo the continuation of the fence
which'has been erected part way around the pondj The letter stated that the
Mill officials had carefully considered the hazard and the fence which they
have. built, in their opinion gives all reasonable protection. They stated that
they do not propose ~o build any additional fence around the remainder of the
area.
The matter of gates ~n the trestle was discussed and the board voted ~o write
tothe Boston and Main Railroad Company in Boston and suggest that they have
these gates erected. Mr. Salisbury informed the board that the Recreational
'Council was disturbed over the lack of gates in this area. Mr. Thomson will
see that a letter is sent ~o the Boston & MaineR.R.
WOBLD WAR II Memorial Committee- Plaque at High School:
Mr. John ~ronin talked with Mr. Finneran about this plague and suggested that
since their committee is definitely for World War II Veterans, it may be out
of their ~mrisd~2t~om to make any plans. The matter wes taken~up with Mr.
Maker and he was asked to take the matter up with the Flag Committee and get
sstions from them
