Wilcox if any one else has seen the doE hanging around his place and Mr. Wilcox said "yes." Mr. Flnneran asked Wilcox if he had go~ in touch with the owner~ and Mr. Wilcox replied that he had asked his lav~er to send the owners of the dog a letter and later, his lawyer told Mr. Wilcox tha~ he had talked with Er. Salisbury and the owners said they would keep the dog home. Mr. Wilcox wen~ on to say that when a lenghy discussion was held on this subject a short time ago, there were about S or l0 people presen~ a~ the meeting who held a grudge against Mr. Wilcox...which dated back ~o the time when his land was used as a dumping ground...to which ~hese people had objected, and they still had that grudge against him even today. Mr. Wilcox said he can get letters from his neighbors who.share his views on the doE. There was some discussion on ~his complaint of .Mr. Wilcox' and on a unanimous vo~e of the Board it was decided that the Chief of Police should be requested ~o make a complete investiga- tion with respec~ to the great dane dog and thkt the owner be ~equested to-restrain the dog during the pendency of the investigation. It was fel~ by the Board that the investigation by the Chief of Police should include an interview with Mrs. Wennerberg, the writer of the letter, and his report shou3!~ include any other pertinenZ information. The Board requested that this report be ready at the nex~ regular meeting, March ?. A letter was v~itten to Mr. Salisbury requesting that the owner restrain. It was only a request, the Selectmen could not demand that the o~,mer restrain the do~ because the previous ma~ter has no~ yet been settled. TREE RES~OVAL RE~UEST: Mr. John Conners came before the Board and said that Mrs. Brightman on Sutton Street had requested the removal of a.catalp~ ~ree. It was decided that the hearing on this should be held on March 1~, at ?:30 P.M. ANNUAL TOWN REPORT BILL: Mr. McAuliffe, Bee Publishing Co, presented his bill for the printing of the annual town report. However, the Selectmen decided that Mr. McAuliffe would have to. wai~ until after ~he Town Meeting on March 19 before he would receive payment. PARKING-I~AIN STREET: A l~r.~.~ ~eceived from Albert Fritchy in regard to' the possible ~n of parking 6~N~in Street from~Ral!road Square to Sa~nders St. Mr. Fritchy explained to th~ Board in his letter that he thought such a ban would be detrimental to his business, the Main Line Restadrant. He said he hoped Tot the Board's favorable consideration on this matter. No action was taken on this letter, however, since this matter is still under consideration. DIZZY BRIDGE--BOSTON & MAINE: Mr. Thomson said that the Board had been working dil£gently to have the hazardous condition at the so-called Dizzy Bridge corrected to safe- guard the lives of children. As a result of ~heir activities, the Boa~d me~ wi~h representatives of the B&~ on last Wednesday and the Board was assured, after some discussion, that perhaps within a ~eriod of ~bout thirty days, the B&N would undertake to remedy this situation although any work done will only be on Main Street side. However, the Board was happy to attain this result and felt it would safeguard the children. MASS. SELEC~EN'S ASSOCIATION: a Bulletin was received regarding hearings to be held on March 2 and 3 with reference to Dutch Elm Disease Eradication and a hearing on March 3 with reference ~o certain gas masks in the fire department. SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER--Rene Beaulieu: The Board requested tha~ a written communication be received from Chief NeKee as to his feeling in the matter of having this person appointed as a special police officer.
