ANDOVER-BOUNDS:
The board voted to pay the bill for the stone bounds and the cost of cutting
the'letter a~ the boundary of Andover and North Andover. Andover will pay
for the cost of setting the bounds and the engineering required. This wes
an agreemen~ made between Mr. Winslow and Mr. Thomson;
LAWRENCE GAS &ELECTRIC CO:
Notice received that a 1000 l~men street light has been installed on Pole
2127, Concord Street, corner of Bunker hill Street, and was'.turned on May,9,1949.
ESSEX COUNTY RETIRF~,~NT BOARD:
Notice received that the amount payable by this town to the several funds of the
Essex County Retirement System for the year 1949 are as follows: Pension Fund
$6271.00, Expense Fund, $142.00, total $6413.00 and this amount will be paid
onths nex~ payroll date.

Approval received on the employment of Joseph W. Lawlor and David 'F. Roche
asReserve Patrolmen, at the rate of $1.00 per hour, effective as of May 16, 1949.

REVOLVERS PERMITS GRANTED:
The folloWing persons were granted renewals of their revolver permits for the
coming year: Kenneth Rahs, William Dolan, Myron Lewis, Alfred H. McKee, Frank
Dushame andJ. W. Russell, by unanimous.vote of the board.
MAY '23, 1949:
The regulars, weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen.was ~eld at.7:00 P.M. with
all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
CHAPTER90:
Mrl. Oarty,~Highwa¥~Surveyor came before the board to inform them.that the money
for' Chapter 90 work 'had been closed ou~ to Surplus Revenue by the State Auditor
and that he needed $4000 of this money to continue with the work on Main Street.
Ne said that each year this money was carriedover'hut the auditor had made
.dhis changeduring his audit period. He talked with Mr. Ford at Beverly who
informed-him'that the contract'l1328 was still open and had been. signed by
the Selectmen on December 28,1948 and was open until.Iune 30, 1949~ The'board
voted~to have this matter checked with Mr. Long's Office and see' if this moqey
could be returned to the chapter 90 account as the bide are to be called for
within a;very, short time.
Mr. Longms office was contacted the following day and 'the Selectmen's clerk
was informed that the Selectmen shouId write a letter to the town accountant.
and request that she re-open the account which had been inadvertently closed. -~
This-was 'taken care of and was agreeable to the town accountant. We will ask
f6r ~&~ification of this telephone conservation with Mr. Long's office.
DEED FOR'SALEOFLOT 27-UPLAND:
'The board signed the deed for the lot on Upland Street #27, which was sold to
Mrs. Nattier Brightman ~a~d a certified check for the amoun~ cf $150.00 was
igiven, tc .the town by.Mr. Mahoney who drew up the deed. The deed will ~e given
to Mrs. B~ightman with the information that she must record it he~s61ffat the
... registry..

TREE REMOVAL I~UEST WITHDRAWN:
Mrs. Oscar Scucywas given permission to withdraw her request for the removal
cf a large ~ree in front of her property at 19 Stonington Street. 'After
talking with the Tree Warden she withdrew th~ request.
