HomeMy WebLinkAbout1949-08-08488 ~ continued He stated that some parts of the conflict were indicated at the executive meeting' of the Selectmen held on July 25, with the fire engineers. Mr. Coffin further stated that there is reason wo he apprehensive lest this situation have an adverse effect upon the fire~ department. He"said that since there seems little prospect that the canfliot will be resolved within the board of engineers, it would appear to be a duty of the selectmen tO intervene. He made the following suggestions and asked that the board take a~tion: (1) Obtain copies of citM or town ordinances, and fire department rules and regulations from several other municipalities. (2) Secure the unpaid services of two outstanding citizens, one of:-~Wh0m shall~ be known for his skill in management .and the other for his skill', in engineering. ,,. (3)' Call a series of conferences with the board of fire engineers ~ to'd/'scuss matters of authority and policy, and to draft and adopt, such rules and regulations, consistent with law, as may seem adviaable for th~' proper administration of the fire department. The board agreed' to send a PARKING AT MAIN STREET: Mr. Coffin asked what action had been taken with respect to signs at~:this Section. The traffic'regulation, was approved under authority of 6hapter $5,~ section 2, of the General. laws,-tbe rules and orders made By' the' Board df 3~lectmen of North Azdover on May 9, 1949. This will be checked with' -~ the 'Chief of Police for his report on the signs. "' PRECINOT 0FFICERS = .' ~oseph Muldowney informed Mr. Lyons, town clerk that his father 'wished to have his name removed from the precinct officer's list as he is:,now out of town. This' leaves a vacancy of an inspector in precinct one, (democrat) which will be filled in the near future. ..,
