PEMBROOKROAD:
Mr. DeRosa came before the board and presented a petition in behalf of the
residents of Pembrook Road requesting the town to put a hard surface on,
said Pembrook Road sc that same will not wash out during the winter rmins.
Mr. DeRosa informed the board that he understood about Mr. Sambataro and
the agreement made with the town but that he was not interested in that
as it was between the town and the Sambataros. He felt that the people in
this area should not suffer because of th~·agreemsnt made by Mr. Sambataro.
He explained that he owned property at Mifflin Drive but was only interested
in helping these people.
Mr. Thomson explained that a year ago Mr. Sambataro entered into anagreement
with the town to put the road into condition and he also said he would put
in drainage, and agreed to live up to the rules and regulations. Th~s agree-
ment followed the voting at the annual town meeting for water and sewer to
he installed. Legal action is pending for failure to keep this agreement.
Mr. DeRosa stated that he understood all this but wished tO help the people
and he felt that eventually the town would have to take over these streets
so why not take it over now.
Mr. Thomson inquired if Mr. Sambataro had urged these people to come before
the Selectmen and Mr. DeRosa replied that he didnot. Mr. Thomson stated
that he had put in a good surface and now expects these people to come here
and have the town put' in the drainage. After further discussion, the board
too~cthe matter under advisement.
Mr. DeRosa then asked if they could have a street light as,it was very dark
and the board asked him to call in the number on the pole.
Mrs. Nellie Bishop then asked if it would be possible to have the present
1000 lumen light changed to a 2500 lightas there is very poor illumination
at the present location. This light was installed recently at the request of
Vincent Lascolla and this will also he taken up with the,LaWrence G & E 0o.
after the board views the location and decides if there should he a second
lightfnstallsd.
PERRY MTRF_~ DUMP:
This .matter was again discussed and the board decided to ask for suggestions
as to a new location and'ask the cooperation of the Board of Health, the
Righway Surveyor, the Fire, Police and any interested partie~.
DAMAGE COMPLAINT:
The damage ~complaint made by Mr. Moody of Moody street was again referred
to Chief McKee for further information.
BUS ~1~RVICE:
The board discussed the bus service in North Andover and after checking
the old schedule with the new one, they found' that the only diff6rence is
thatan additional bus has been added on Sunday for the Stevens Corner
line, and at the North Andover Center via Mass.~ Ave. one bus hsd been~taken
off on Sundays and holidays.. North Andover center bus schedule is exactly
the same. No'further action was ,taken.
The board felt that the delay in hus service is probably due to a traffic problem
and they tabled the matter until further complaints are made.
NOVEMBER 28,
The'Board of Selectmen met at ~:00 P.M. for their regular weekly meeting, with
all members present.
D~PLOCATION:
Mr. Thomson informed the Board members that Mr. John Roche had offered a piece
of l~nd as available ~for dump purposes. It is located off Railroad Avenue
and has a fifty foot drop. The board voted toplace this location on file
for future reference.
DEPARTMENT 0FPUBLIC WORKS:
A communication receivedrelative to the conference which was held on November 7,
regarding speed control on Route 125 and informing the board that a report dated
November 21, 1949 on the speed limits has been forwarded to the Chief Engineer.
A date will be set for a public hearing after the usual departmental approval
of the report. The Board voted unanimously to r~quest a copy of this report
for the file of 'the Selectmen.
STREET LIGHTS:
The Selectmen voted unanimously to have the Lawrence G & E Co. make a survey
of Pembrook Road from Mifflin Drive to Lyman Road to determinewhether o~
not the s~reet lighting is sufficient. The Board has received requests from
