LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC COM?A~: FOSTER STREET
Letter received informing the board that a further ~urvey has been made with
respect to lights on Foster Street ss far es Mosquito Brook and they recommend
that three more 1000 lumen lights on poles 2459, 2461 and 3394 be installed.
These lights will cost $18.00 each per year.
The letter states ~nat they were misinformed es to the location of Mosquito
Brook and there is about !000 feet beyond the last light installed, to be
covered. The board voted to follow the recommendations of the letter and
request the installatio~ of the three lights as indicated on the plan.
PE~RR00K ROAD:
A survey was made by this company with respect to street lights on Pembrook
Road and they recommendedthe installation of 2500 lumen lights on five poles
in one area and two more 2500 !u~en lights at the corner of Herrick and Edmands
Road.
The Board voted to request one light on pole 3448 at this time and when more
requests are received, they will follow the recommendation in the letter.
CHICKERING ROAD:
A survey was made by this company with respect to improving the street lighting
in this area and they recommended four 16,000 lumen mercury vapor lights on
Cbickering to cover the intersections between Pleasant and Parks Streets and
three lights 16,000 lumen mercury vapor lights on Main Street between Gbickering
Road and Osgood Street to take ~are of the school areas. They also recommended
the removal of several lights for which the town wo~!d receive a credit of
$388.00.
There was a discussion about these lights a~d the board then voted to request'
that a representative of the Gas Company meet with the board to discuss this
whole matter on December 19 at 7:45 P.M.
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING:
William Dully requested the Selectmen to call m special town meeting to consider
an article for his department and there will began article for the Veterans'
Agent appropriation and one for the Police Department. A meeting will be
held in the CourtRoom on. December 27, 1949 at 6:45 P.M. to act on these three
articles.
pEP~ISSION GRANTED TO CAROL GROUP
Mr. Coffin asked that the Selectmen grant permission for s group of people
from the Methodist Church to. have a carol demonstration on December 23, 1949
at Jefferson Square and if necessary, the area will be roped off. The board
voted unanimously to grant Shis permission.
REVOLVERPEP~IT:
The Board voted unanimously to grant a~revolver permit to Robert L. Sanborn
59 Maple Ave. North Andover. He is a reserve police officer.
DEPARTMEh~ OF PUBLIC WORKS:
A letter received to inform the board that the report on speed control on
Route 125 has not yes received departmental approval. Other studies are to be
made and until they have something conclusive to report, it will not be
distributed. Letter signed by J. 0. Cressy, Traffic 4ngineer.
TREE RF3.~0VAL:
William Goodhue of 107 Gray Street, North ~ndover inquired about having thmee
large trees removed at the junction of Turnpike and Johnson Streets. Ne is
planning to lease this land and put up a garage and repair shop. His application
is before the Board of Appeals at this time. John Connors will check to see
if the trees are on %own owned land. No action taken.

The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen wes held et 7:00 P.~.
with e!l members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were pp~roved.
TREE R~,IOVAL HEARING:
A hearing was held at 7:30 P.M. on the removal of a tree at 58 Marblehead
Street petitioned by Antonio and Ange!ina Giarrusso. There was no opposition
the board voted to request the tree warden to remove this tree.
DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATIONS AND TAXATION:
The amounts as established by the Commissioner for the 1950 bond of the
treasurer and tax co!lector were approved and signed by the Board of Selectmen
as Eollows: $44,600 for the Treasurer and $44,300 for the tax collector.
