SPECIAL TO~ MEETING:
A request~om the School building committee that the Selectmen call a special
town meeting to .be held at the conclusion of the annual :o~n meeting on March 18,
~1950 was received and one article is'to be insermed:
1'o see if the ~ownwill vote ~o raise and appropriate, or ~ransfer from available
funds in the treasury, a sum of money mo be added to the Stabilixation Fund under
Chapter 124 of the Axts of 1945, Section 5B,' of Chapter 40.
The board voted unanimously to call this special to~n meeting.
~DAMAGE CLAIM:
Robert Cole came to the office to saythat his'wife had three doctors ~isits
as the result of a fall on February 16, 1950 on the sidewalk a~ a cos~ of
· ~$12.00 and that she hai lost $10.00 a day for three days and would like ~o be reimbursed.
The board voted to pay half of the salary lost andthe ·:o~al.of the doctors
bill or a total of $27.00 after a release is signed by husband and. wife.

Mr. Daffy called attention ~o a recent petition ofPlan # 33, covering the
· abandonment of buried ground wire on Hewitt Ave., Salem S:., Marbleridge ~Oad,
and on Chadwick S~reet, which he said is connec~edwith the wa~er main and
he.felt that such mat:ers shouldbe referred to the ~ater Department~
The board vo~ed ~o approve this petition upon acceptance by the Board of
Public Works and this will apply in the future ~o any matters pertaining
to the water mains. .~
MASS. S~.~.w~CTMEN,S ~SSOCIATION:
Notice received that the hearing on two bills H-4§? and H1612 to make school
appropriations and expenditures subjec~ to ~he same laws that apply to the
.appropriations and expenditures/of other'municipaldepartments was nostpone~
until ~rch 8, 1950 at'the S~ate House, Boston~. '
SNOW EMERGENCY:
The board declared a snow emergency on February23, 1950 at 12:10 A.M. at the
request of MrJ Catty, who will have the figures availablea~ the nex~ meeting
~of~the Selectmen~$ ACcording to Mr. Carry, the first emergency on February 15,
was ng~ necessary as MrJ Carry had sufficient ~oney to pay~all.bil!s.

The.regular weekly meeting of the 'Board of /~iectmen was held at ?:00 P.M.
with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls ~re ~appvoved.

Copies et time tables were received by the Board as requested. The board will
~tudy them and discuss the ma~ter at a later date.

Notice received that a police examination is to be held on April 29, 1950
and tha~ persons employed on a provisional basis must terminate their services.

Retail price index of specific goods and services in large cities was received
also an ~ndex ~howing the comparative figures for the past ten years.

LAWRENCE GAS &ELECTRIC CO:
A hearing was held at 7:30~.M. on the petition of this company to locate poles,
wires, etc. on the easterly side of Boxford Street, at points approximately 4783;
feet, 5105 feet, 5412 feet, 5709 feet, 6009 feet, and 6284 feet easterly and
southerly from Forest St. 5~oles. All abutters were notified and %~eze '~s no
opposition. The board voted unanimously to ~runt this request.
