WATER FOUNTAIN -. TO~ BUILDING:
The board voted to call for bids for a drinking fountain to be installed in
the town building for local dealers only. Mr. Tho~s~n_wlll dra~ up the form
for the bid to be inserted in the Tribune Publishing Co. paper. Bids to
be returned not later than 8:00 P.M. on April 24, 1950.
WIRING INSPECTOR:
Thomas Lebel, wiring inspector came before the board to discuss his duties and
what would be required for this particular work.
.Mr. Lebel stated that he has a Master's and a Journeyman's license. He said we
would have to have some kind of by-laws to be incorporated in the town by-laws.
He produced a. wiring card, 'a fixture card which are necessary in this work and
a set of forms issued in triplicate, one for applicant, one for file and one.
remains in the book. The money is turned over to the town for any fees collected.
Mr. Lebel stated~that they work under.the National Code and he will draw.up some
rules and regulations and present them to the board for approval.
The board discussed the matter of inspedting oile burners and Mr. Lebel believes
that this comes under the wiring inspector. Mr. Thorns'on suggested that he talk
with the fire engineers about the permits for oil burners.
Mr. Lebel.will come in again to talk with the board as soon as he has information
on the proposed by-law~, and a pamphlet which he plans to give to the board.
COMPLAINT:
Mr. Finneran mentioned that he had received a complaint from Carl Savenelli,
12 Camden Street that bees were getting into his house and he was no~ able
to put his .child ou~ and he wanted the Selectmen to do something about it.
The board discussed this ma~ter and decided that Mr. Savenelli would have
to prove that this was a public nuisance before thetewn could enter into it.
No action, was taken.
..APRIL 14, 1950
A special meeting was held at 1:30 P.M. to discuss the police schedule and
the meeting was executive. A new schedule will be drawn up and discussed
at a~ later-meeting.
The board voted unanimously to appoint Joseph Lawlor, 30 Church Street and
David Roche,i 92 Second Street, as regular policemen, their duties to commence
on April 20,~1950 at a salary of $56.90 weekly. The chief will prepare his
schedule and~ presen~ it to the board in the near future.
REVOL¥~PERNIT:
The Board ~opEoved the application of Anthony Rogers~ 311 Clark Street for
permission to carr~ a revolver for prote, ction. Mr..Rogers is the proprietor
of the Richlyn Social Club, Inc.
OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY:
The Board approved the name of Arthur M. Sullivan,Johnson Street, for character
as required on an application for a certificateof incorporation, as ~rovided in
Chapter 180 of the G. L. TER. ED. filed at the Office of the Secretary to be
Enown as Greater Lawrence Industrial Corporation,~
