STREET LIGHT REQUEST:
Mr. Finneran received a request for a street light on MoodyStreetwhere a
new home is to be built. The board decided to .wait until the home is complete
and keep this request pending.
APRIL 17~ 1950:
The Board of Selectmen held their weekly meeting at 7:00 P.M. with'member
Thomson absent. Weekly bills and payrolls were ~oproved.
V.F.~ INSTAT.T4TION:
An invitation to at,nd the joint installation of the N.A. Post 2104,
and Auxiliary on April 22, 1950 was received and the board voted to accept
the invitation with thanks.
JUROR' DRAWN:
Mr. Coffin drew the name of William E. Terry, 28 harold St. to serve as a
Juror on criminal business at Superior Court,~ Newb~A-~ont on May 15,1950.
Mr. Terry has me, ed out of town and.. it will be necessary to draw another

~Mr. Mahoney, Town Modera~or,'has appointed the foll0wingpersens who wil~
serve on the Committee to study Town ~%nager for the ~own: Frank storey,
John Oostello, Reg. of Probate Court, Irving Hinton, Philip Sutcliffe, and
George Cullen.
BEE NUISANCE: ~
Mr; Savalint of .12 ,Camden Street same before ~he board to discuss the.'matter
.of bees which are'annoying his family and in one instance his child.was stung
by a~bee. They get into the house and it is impossible for them ta put their
child out to sleep because of the fear that he might again be stung with the
bses.
M~.. Coffin suggested that we write to' the State~ Department ofJ~gri~uit~re
~100 Nashua St. Boston to see if they have had any.similar cases and ask for
suggesZions from them as to what might be done.

The regular weekly meeting of the-Board of Selectmen was held at 7:30 P~M.
with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved.
SEALER OF NEIGHTS:AND ~MEASURES:
Walter Hamilton came before the board and ~mformed them tha{'~recemtiy an'
inspector came from the Offic~ of the' Director of Standards, Boston and
checked the weights and other equipment of ~his department. He ~fou~d that
they were all rusty due ~o neglect in the proper care of this equipment.
Alee tha~ome of the weights were missing. They suggested~that.these
weight~ sho~d be reconditio{~ed and'rcplacment made of the missing weights
and the ,support stand. Also that some of the weights need re-mfckeling which
might b~ don~ in ~awrence or otherwise in Boston. · ·
The board of Selectmen and'also the Town Treasurer received letters~from
the Direcmor of Standards s%ating the above information and the bcard
suggested that Mr'. Ham~tlton take care of this work and pay the~' cost from
his appropriation and if necessary that he have more, a request ~o~l'd be ~
made for a ~ransfer from the Reserve' Fund. Mr. hamilton agreed to take
care of this mat~er.
LAWRENCE GAS&ELECTRiC~COMPANy
Petition received for permission to locate poles, ~res and~ necessary fixtures
on the westerly side of Linden Avenue at a point approximately 850 feet
southerly from Gree~ Street,~l pole. The board voted to hold a h~aring
on Ms~ 8, 1950 at ? :30 P.M. on this petition.
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: CHAP"~90
Notice received that the C6mmissioners have allottedunder the~ provisions
of Section 34, Chapter 90'of the G.L. the sum of $8,000 for the impro~emant
of Main Street on condition that a~ least $4,000 shall be contributed by the
~own and $4,000 by the couhtyand the cost robe borne by thsCommonwealth
shall not exceed the amount ~llotted.'
~_lso that the Commissioner~ have allotted $800 for the maintenance of the
Chapter 90 roads in town on condition that a~ least $1,600shall be contributed
by theto~n, and that the cost to be borne by the Commonwealth shall not exceed
the amount allotted. .
