Walsh, 27 Chadwick St. asking that he be considered for appointment as a Reserve Officer to replace Russell Donnelly Who is now in the armed forces. Nosction,as taken but the request will be filed under Reserve Police. NATIONAL' HANDICAP WF~X: Mr, Thomson signed,.a proclamation asking that all consideration be givem to employing handicapped persons .this week. Governor Dover signed this proclamation end urged all selectmen and city councils to cooperate. LAWRENCE G & E CO: Notification received that a i000 lumen incandeacent street light has been in- stalled~ on~ pole 339Z, Gtenwood Street as requested ~under of June ~27,19%0 and a 1000 lumen light on pole 1433, Dale Street,.and pole 130%, Linden Street as requested~'on May 16 end July 11,,19%0. CHANGE NAME OF 'STI~T~ Opinion received from 0. J. Mahone¥ relative to the bo~rd ~hi~h has authority to !chenge the anms of a street and General Law, Chapter 8%, Sec. 3, which refers"to this matter was quoted in the notification. The substance of.the opinion is~ that. the Selectmen have the Jurisdiction. of a request to change, a name" of a public way er private way, except as provided in Chapter 85, Sec. 3A. and ~3B which would refer to theplaaning board as the board of survey. :In this · -particular case, the shlectmen appear to have the authority, necessary, ~e.:board, diecussed the program of Civil defe4ce and Mr. Cole of.Andover, who is the director there.talked with:Mr, Thomson and informed him that he isona ~ tima(basis at ~a salary set:'hy the tcwno.
