Mr. carry was reached by phone and Mr. Thomsom told the residents that Mr. Catty has talked with the Advisory Board who will not listen to him regarding a transfer and Mr. Carry thinks he will let it go until next spring. He does not believe there will be much of an increase in price except for labor or increase in material. Mr. Thomson stated the only other alternative #as for the Board to discuss this with the Advisory Board, which they would be happy to do, as the only source of money is the reserve fund ~ver which the Advisory Board has control. ~LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC CO. ~ermission was granted to the Gas Company ~o excavate fo install gas service for Arthur Boutilier, Pembroke Road corner of Mifflin Drive, North Andover. Unanimous vote. Notification received from the Gas Company that a 1000 lumen light has been installed on Pole 3532, Hemlock Street and was turned on October 31, 1950. Letter also sent to Gas Company requesting a light on pole 2928 on Boxford Street which will eliminate the necessity of a photo-electric cell on pole 2930. Board voted ~o ask the Gas Company to install a light on pole 2807, Moody Street. ~drmission was granted ~o the Tel. GO. to remo~e 1 pole on Mass. Ave., approximately 331' northwest of Osgood Street. Unanimous vote. RENT CONTROL - #8 on Ballo~ Letter received from John A. Ca]laban and-Ralph Arivella, Co-Chairmen, Greater Lawrence CI0-AFL United Labor Committee, requesting SelectmenLto endorse the princi, ple of Referendum NO.. 8 pertaining to the extension of ren~ control and urge the voters of Neath Ando~er to vote favorably on this question. Mr. Thomson felt that thi~ communica- tion had been received too late for the Sele6tmen to do anything about it but th~ Board voted to accept it. INVITATION - Armistice Day Committee: Invi~a~ion received by the board from John L. ~arris, Chairman, inviting Board %o participate in ~he observance of Armistice Day, Sat. Nov. 11, 1950. Board- voted unanimously ~o accept the invitation with thanks. SCHOOL BUS SIGN (Recommendation) Le~er received from k~.izabeth Elliott recommending that a sign bearing words to the effect that "It is a State law that mil cars should come to a stop behind a~ school bus when the bus is s~opped, "be erected in some conspicuous place in the town. The Board voted unanimously to refer this to the Police Department. INJURY REPORT: Report received on .Donald Dearden, employee of Tree Dept., who sprained his right wrist. A.B.C; PRESS RELF~SE: %A~o releases were ~received from the A.B.C. regarding the sale of liquor on election day and Ar~.stic Day. Restaurants and Clubs shall not sell and Package Goods Stores shall not sell or deliver alcoholic beverages during polling hours and Registered Pharmacists are subJec: ~o the same restrictions except that they may sell .alcohol upon the prescription of a registered physician. Restaurants, 'Clubs and Package Goods Stores shall no~ sell alcoholic beverages prior mo one O'clock P.M. Package Goods Stores may sell and deliver such beverages until not later than eleven-thirty o'clock P.M. on' Friday., November 10th (flight before) Registered Pharmacists shall no~ sell alcoholic beverages (or alcohol) a~ any time. during the day except on a registered physician's prescription. MEETING WITHAPPEAL BOA.RDREBY-LAWB '~oard voted ~o moo=with the Appeal Board on November 20, 1950 at 8:00 P.M. postponed from 11/13/50 to 11/20/50, at the request of Mr. Peter Ritchie. ibis was RAISE FOR WORKERS AT POLLS: ~t was voted to give a raise to all persons workingat the polls but Mr. Lyons will take care of this as it was thought best to wait arm see how many people worked and how much money was left in the appropriation and then give the raise accordingly.
