Weekly bills and ap~rolls were approved. NEW ENGLAND TEL. & TEL. CO: A petition covering plan #45 for the abandonment of one pole on Osgo°d Street was received and no hearing was necessa~¥.-only action by the Sale ~-tmen. The board voted to grant the request for abandonment of One pole on Osgood Street, approximately 545' north of Clark Street, 1 pole. ~ petition covering plan #46 for the abandonment of one pole on Salem' Street was received and no hearing was necessary-only action by the Sole ctmen. The board voted to grant the request, for 'abandonment of one pole of Salem Street, approximately 334' south.of Foster Street, 1 p$1e. LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC CO.: Mr. Frost of the.Law. Gas &-Electric Co. advised that they were sorry for the lay on the installation cf street lights on Main Street and near M~Afee's · . Store in the Center. He stated that street lighting equipment has '.been. dif- ficult to obtain and many installations have been held up.. Thomson and Mr. Finneran felt that· ~ours~fr0m 9:00 A;M.~ ~o 8:00 P.M. were the best ~nd this is 'what' the polling hoUrs wLll be. - PRECINCT TWO: ~'~d the Selectmen that he had received many complaints from persons who worked in the Fire Station dbring the polling hours; There were complaints about ' the fire horns blowing and about the smell of gasoline from the trucks. Mr. Lyons stated that Father Shea was willing to close St..'Michael,s School for a day if they wished to use this . Mr. Thomson mentioned .that Father Shea has always been very generous and the Selec=man appreciated this. :but in view of the fact that a public building is available, it was felt that the voters Should continue'to vote at the' Fire Station. Mr. Coffin suggested that~ the'matter of moving the trucks out to make. room for the voters might be suggested to the Board of Engineers. POLICE INCREASE: Mr. Coffin wanted it to be put on the record that he is not in favor of the differ- ~ntial increase for the' Chief and Sergeant in the Police Dept. and the. Chief in the Fire Dept. He said he would be willing to give $2.00 and $1.00 to the Chief and Sergeant instead of $7.00 and $5.00 a~ the present time. He also mentioned that Officer Lewis would like to have an increase because he felt he had served a long time and his reason for asking is that he is a senior officer. No action was taken.
