Letter received thanking the board for their cooperation in assisting them in procuring better lighting on Main St. and for ail other favors the board has done in the past. STREET LIGHT REQUEST: ~s. Elaine Griffin called to ask if she could have a light installed in front of her property on Chickering Road as the area is very dark and she feels sure that the board.will approve if they view this location. The board voted ~o take no action until after the town meeting since it will be necessary to have a pole erected there before a light can be installed. STREET LIGHT: ~. Frost called to say the the light requested on Marbleridge Ro~d fea~ }~s. F~inha,s residence is 750 feet from the nearest pole and will require a photoelectric cell or another light to beinstalled which would be the better procedure. The board will view this location before making a decision. FEBRUARY 5, 1951: weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen w~s held at 7:00 P.M. with all members'present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved. ACCIDENT CLAIM: hank DeCoster of. Andover stated that he had had an accident with the Town Truck, driven by William Roberts. According to a report by CharlesMcCubbin, the Town Truck had passed the parked truck at the Little Fawn Cleaners and .Mr. DeCoster could easily have passed safely if he had not applied his brakes as he did. There was room for both cars co pass in front of the parked truck which was well off the center of the road but the town truck had passed the parked truck and did not have to turn out a~ all to make this pass. Mr. McCubbin stated he checked the madand ice which fell off his mudguard when the car bumped into the ~ti~ck a~d there were large chunks of this where it fell and it was ~ay over on his side of the road~ He said the road at this point slopes toward the center of the road and when the brakes were applied De~oster's car veered toward the center of the road~and that is when it bumped into the truck. Mr. NcCubbin said the truck slowed down to less than ten miles per hour whenhe saw the car skid as they knew he would hit them and he further stated that he would say DeCoster skidded about thirty feet. A Mr. Williams of Davis Street, was also present at the scene and he accompanied Mr. DeCoster. The Board voted unanimously to take this m~tter under advisement. The Board decided to al!owMr. DeCoster $75.00 for this accident and~if this isagreeablc to him, a release will be sent. ADJUDICATION - COT~IT STREET: A hearing was held on the 'adjudication of Cotu!t Street'for acceptance as a public way for a distance of 160' from Andover Street. This has been publicized and abutters have been notified. A letter has been received from Mr. Car~y stating that sewer and w~ter have been installed and since its completion, the road has been put back into condition and m6ets with the approval of the Highway Surveyor~ A release has been obtained from the abutters. On the motion of.Mr. Coffin, it wasunanimously voted by the Board that Cotuit Street be adjudicated asjitcisp~eAdy foracgep.tance~.~a~public~waycfC~a~Ltst~nce 9~6O.!.~from~ndover St.~.in accordance with the plan on file in the Town Clerk's office. REQUEST FOR USE OF STEV~SHALL: The Board of Trade has requested the use of Stevens Hall for April 5 and 6 and the Board voted unanimously to grant .this request, if Mr. Hayes advised tha~ thc Hall is available on those two nights. DAMAGE CLAIM: A letter was received from Mrs. Sally Driver of 1439 Great Pond Road, stating that she hit a bad trench on Green Street on January 21st and reported it immediately, and she said a'marker was then put on it. The Board decided to take no action on this matter until they had contacted ~slter Stamp relative to SNOW ~ERGENCY DECLARED: A snow emergency was declared at 9:00 P;M. on February 4, 1951 at the request of Mr. Ira Carty. He s~ated he may not'need it if he'has sufficient money. LA%~RENCE GAS& ELECTRIC COS~ANY: '~ne Law. ~as & Electric Co. advised that the following street lights have been installed: 2500 lumen light, poles 2107, 391, ~42, 392, 393, 2069, 397, 398 and 400 on Main Street, installed January 24, 1951.
