A 1000 lumen light was installed on pole 360, Osgood Street, on 1/31/51. The board also voted to contact the Gas Company and have them install two lights on Marbleridge Road, one in front of Mrs. Fartnha's residence and the other at their discretion. A letter of thanks was received from William G. Glover for the installation of the street light.in front of his'home as per his request. LAWRENCE GAS& ELECTRIC CO. & NF~GLANDTEL. &.TEL. CO.: '1he above companies request permission to locate, poles wires and fixtures on Massachusetts Avenue, appr~o~imately 60' northwest of Academy Road, I pole. The Board voted to set a hearing on 2/19/51 at 7:30 P.M. BOARD OF APPEALS: The Annual 'Report of the Board of Appeals' for the year ending December 31, 1950 was accepted by the Board and placed on file. LETTER FROM SCHOOL DEPT. TO C~IEF OF POLICE: ~ 'letter was received by Chief McKee from Supt. of Schools, Mr. O'Brien, thanking the police for the fine co%peration given during the school year 1950. REQL~STS FOR TREE REMOVALS: A reques~ was reccived from Prancis Murphy, 13 Maple Avenue for the removal of two trees, roots of which block the sewer. A hearing was set fo~. 2/19/51 at 7:25 P.M. A request was received from Elizabeth Doran, 20 Hodges Stree~ for the removal of one tree, which is in her driveway. A hearing was set for 2/19/51 at 7:25 P.M. INTERMITTENT SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER: Augustine W~l~h came in to say that he is interested in becoming an intermittent special officer. APPOINTMENT - FOREST FIREWARDEN: C~ief James Hargreaves was ap~;~inted Forest FireWardan for the year 19~ and the card has been returned to Bost6n. OFFER OF LAND FOR D~PINGPURPOSES: Robert Burke stated that he has a tract of land in back of'his barn, a long distance from the~street which co~S be used for dumping purposes. There is alarge gulley which he claims would not be filled up for about ten years. There would b~two entrances, one from Railroad Ave. and one from Chickering Road. He would be willing to lease it for one year to see h6w it works out and if there were no c°mPlalnts, it could be renewed. Mr. Catty h~s looked a~ this location within thepast few days. No action was taken by the Board at this meeting, but the matter will be brought up again at a later date. - - The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmmu was held a~ 7:00 P.M. with Mr. .Thomson and Mr. Finneran present. Weekly payrolls and bills were approved. Mr. Coffin . was unable to attend the meeting. S'iEVENS HALL: Raymond Beaudoin requested t~e use of Stevens Hall for the V. F. %'~. to hold a whist party on February 23, 1951. The board granted this permission subject to approval by Mr. Hayes that the hall is available. .Mr. Hayes con~acted and the hall is available for that evening. ~r. Beaudoin notified. DAM~iGE CLAIM: The board agreed to pay the claim made by Hrs. Sally T. Driver, 1439 Great Pond Road, in the amount of $55.00 for damage to her car on January 21, 1951 caused by a bad trench on Greene Street. Walter Stamp reported that he had looked at the trench ~ud it was about one foot deep and very dangerous. He put a "bomb" there and the next day filled it in with t~r mixture. He said the trench w. as originally dug by the Public Works Department and no~ the Highway Department. A release will be sent to Mrs. Driver. DA~tGE CLAIM: The Board voted to pay $75.00 to Frard~ A. DeCoster for damage to his car which wasin collision with the Highway Department truck on January 31, 1951 on Sutton Street. The amount of the claim for damage was $250.70 but in view of the reports received the board offered $75.00. Mr. DeCoster called the bo:~rd to s~y that he was not satisfied and will come in to the meeting on February 19,1951.
