LAWRENCE G & E CO:
Notification received that a 1000 lumen street light has been installed on pole
#3S40 Tyler Road as requested on 1/23/1951. Light.was turned on
STREET LIGHT REQUEST:
Mrs. Leo Mylott, Pambrook Rd. requested a s~reet light on pole 41/5 on Pm,brook
Road which is near her property. She stated that there are no lights in this
par$icular section, of the street. The board vo~ed to view this location before
taki~g any action.
CHIEF MCKEE- VACANT LOT WITH OPEN CELLAR:
Chief McKee reported that he had checked with the Local Loan and Finance Co.
then Benny Gannaro, 46 Newbury St. Lawrence, now the owner of this land and
he will try to do something to remedy this situation.
PLANNING BOARD:
Notification received that a hearing is to be held on Monday evening, Feb.19,
at 8:00 P.M. relative to the application of Sutton Hill Company~ requesting
approval of' plans for extension of Heath Stree=, e%c.
.POLICE DEPARTMENT:
No action was taken on the matter of sending in a list of men available as
intermittent police .officers as requested by Chief McKee. There were six names
available and an application from Myron B. Lewis, Jr. who is now in the Marines.
This will be held over until next~we~k.
DIVISION OF CIVIL SERVICE:
Notification received relative to Chapter 31, Section 1SC which requires that
9n or' before March first a list- of all civil service employees '~emplayed in the
town and the title of the class and' grade of the office or posi{ion of each such
person snalt be listed. List will be sent in before March l, 19~l.
DAMAGE CLAIM:
Frank =; DeCoster .and Carl Willioms came before the board with respect' to 'the
accident on January 31, 195I between the town truck and Mr. DeCoster.s car.
The Board had previously offered $75.00 to Mr. DeCos~er and he inquired as
to the basis of this offer.
Mr; Thomson stated that the board had considered the matter carefully and
f.elt that it would be of no greater Worth to the town one way or another and
the offer~ of $75.'00 was made. Both drivers were mutually at faul%.
Mr. Coffin stated 'that the board had secured information in great detail
and had weighed the matter carefully.
Nr. DeCoster ~elt .~a.t it was an insult to a human beings intelligence to offer
this amount, ne saia ne would have repaired the care if he had obtained $150.OO
and he was honest about the matter. He said he would like to make a reasonable
settlement and he hbped the board could see his point.
Mr. Finneran felt that from the evidence obtained bythis bo'~d the tow~a~houldn,t
pay anything.
Mr. Thomson sa~d it wouldn,z make any difference i~ the uleim~were over $500 the
amcun~, offered Wodld be .the same.
Mr. DeCoster~said that the employees s%ory must have been entirely different from
his version of the accident. Mr. DeCos~er will think this maturer over before
making a decision but he feels ~that it is a ma:~er ~o be settled in court.

The smm~oms received for appearnacc in Superior Courm, Sale~ on March 13, 1951
for the above officials was discussed and there w~s a difference of opinion as to
· whet. her or not they should be represented~by c~unsel. ~he boar~ finall~ agreed
to invite C.J. Mahoney to come into the meeting on Fekr~ary 26, 1951 to talk this
over before they decide on what course of ac~ton to take.
DUMP SITUATION:
No action taken on the dump location offered by Robert Burke but the board hopes
~o view this location before next meeting.
FEBRUARY 26, 1951:
The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmenwas held at 7~00 P.M. with all
members present. ~eekly bills and payrolls were approved.
EEECTiON EXPENSES:
George Cunningham, Janitor at the Bradstree~ School camebefore the board to inquire
if he could possibly receive an increase for the se~ing up of booths on election
day. He said he ~as to clear thetables at %he school as the children have their
lunch there ~and then has the cleaning up to-day and works longer hours than the
police officer.
