SALARY DISCUBSION: continued
He said he felt that there was a breach of faith here and that we, moreor less
· have to take what the Advisory Board gives us. He said they had recommended a
cos~ of living increase remro-active to 1/1/1951.
In~ercising our request, said Mr. Willis, he felt they were more than lenient
and that we have received very unfair treatment. We could have inserted an article
in the warrant but felt that the Advisory Board had agreed to go along .with our
request since it was uniform. Mr. Willis said that since the Selectmen agreed to
the 12% increase they should be able to look to them f or support.
He saidthat Methuen, Andover and Lawrence had received a$6.00 weekly increase.
North Andover has 'not had an increase since'1948, and not 1949 as suggested by
-the Advisory Board.
Mr. Finnaran and Nr.'Coffin both agreed that the Selectmen will make their recomend-
ation known at t~e Town Meeting.

see what arrangements could be mide to have it left down in the coun=ry and it would
be a grea$ help in case of~fire.
Mr. Camasso said that if the to~u sees fit to sent the truck down there, they will
house it temporarily with John Morse and later find a permanen= place~ for it.
~he committee suggested that several of the firemen get together and give them
instructions as to'how to take care of the truck and then there would always be some-
one available' to mann it. The'board set a meeting for March 19,1951 at 8:00 P.M.
and voted to invite the fire engineers to discuss all matters pertaining to this

A resident of Pambro0k Road came in ~o say tha~ nothing had been done ab~ub-the
open cellar on ?embrook Road. Chief NcEee has already contacted the owner who'
' agreed to do something about this. matter.
Ur. Coffin suggested'that the Selectm~n write to the owner and ask' him to ~ake
care of this situation as soon as po.ssible as it was a hazard where children~ere *r~
concerned~
VETERANS, NOUSING' AU~0RITY:
Tais committee requeste'd permission to use the Selectmen,s Office ~or their meeting ..~
on the first Thursday evening of each month. The Board voted to allow them to use ~..-
the office provided it was not in use, in which case they would be-able tc use
Court Room and they'will be so notified.
COUUUNITY ¢~NTER~ 'CENTER. SCN00L:
A letter was received ~rom L~11 fan* Mershall, Secret~ry stating that t~is Cente~
was interested in' the Center School property and wuuld* like ~o be notiffed whe~
it is to be disposed of.
The board voted to accept the .lette.r and place it on fil~e.
CERTIFICATE OF INCORP0~ATION:
Notice received"that*'a~, apPlication for a certificate of incorporation was filed
with the Secretary 'of the. Commonwealth under ~he name of U~y T. and '$¥tlltam A.
Richardson Fund Corporat~un; to assist in the education of worhhy boys and girls
in the Commonwealth eithar by gift or loan.
Nildreth Auer, Br~in~Hill Far~, North Andovar is one of the members and the o6hers
are ~met from North'Andover. The board voted 'to approve this person listed as residing
in North Andover and form will be returned to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
PAINTING FLAG"POLE~TAVERN ACRES:
The board voted ~o allow William Heurtck to p~int the flag *pole as he has in the past
few years. No new rope is needed ~his year.
BUILDING INSPECTOR:-"
In .reference ~o an anonymous letter, received by the Board of Assessors, the Selectmen
voted to contact Mr. Lawlor and check on the various names mentioned in the letter
as persons who have b-~t or made alterations within the past year wi~thout receiving
a building permit-~from Mr. Lawlor.
Although the letter was .unsigaed, the board felt obligated to check this matter.
BONDS L2REAS~RER AND TAX COT~TOR:
The bond for Tax collector for 19~1 was received fr~m Mr. Wallwork, present tax'
collector and is listed with the Great Pond Insurance Agency, amount $~6,900.
The Treasurer,s bond for $45,000 wasreceived and is in the Thomas J. McGrail,Jr.
Insurance Age4cy.
