Mr. Kurgin told the board that they are unable to use their bathroom because of it backing up and he didn't thick it helped the health problem either. He said his porch is sagging because of the roots of this ~ree and it has disrupted the sidewnlk which is also a hazard, Archie Provenbher ~as present and said he is a tenant there and he has hroable · with his bathroom backing up. and his floor was all flooded. Mr. Finneran made a motion that we take the matter under .advisement and check with Mr..Conners as to whether or hot the tree is on. town property and also to check with Mr. Duf£y to see if he has had trouble with this property with - regard to the sewer pipes. Motion was seconded by Mr. Cbffin and unanimously voted. Mr. Thomson informed those present that this board would notify them of the action taken after reports have b~en made. BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS: A communication received from M~.. Dully, Supt. thanking the board for their attention relative to the rules and regulations for the purpose of preventing pollution and securing sanitary protection of Lake Cochichewick, also., commending the action of Chief Alfred H. McKee and the police department in this matter. AMEKI CAN LEGION: Invitation to the board to attend the annual installation of officers on Sept.12 at the Legion Home. The board voted unanimously to accept the. invitatiun'with!' thanks.. , . LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY: The recommendation of this'company with respect to lights requested on Turnpike Street ~As discussed by. the members of the board. They voted unanimously to accept and adopt the company,s recommendation to install ten lights as indicated on au. enclosed map at a cost.of .$180 per year. The town will gain six additioua! lights at an expense of only $36.00. If.they had. the lights inst~ed.as first : ,.requested the cost of such lights and four photo electric control units the total cost would be $144,00 per year. Notice will be. sent' to the company to install the ten lights as recommende~. STREET LIGHT INSTALLED: Notice received that alO00 lumen incandescent light has been installad on Pole #3580, Chickering Road as requested in letter of May22,1951. Light was turned on September 7., 19~1~ PETITION FOR POL~ AND WIRE LOCATIO]~: . ~:.. , Petition received for permission to locate poles and wires on.the westerly side of the Andover By-Pass at a point approximately 435 feet southerly .'from Hillside Road, 1 pole~' A hearing .was set .for this petition on September 24, 1951 at 7:30 P~M. Selectmen's Office. 'EXCAVATING: Permission was granted to this company to excavate to install gas ~4~ at Troy Road 35'. in street. Permission was granted to instn~ service on Troy Road, 13"in .street. Both requests were. granted by unanimous vote of the board.. Mr. Carry notified in both instances. CO~=LAINT-SPERDING: Mr. Finneran received 'a complaint with reference to speeding on .Andover Street, between Chestnut Street and. Chickering Road and requested that some safety signs be' installed. Mr. Fiuneran't~,E~ked With Chief McKee .about this and was informed that this is a state highway and permission would have to be obtained before signs could be ~installed. The board voted to refer the matter to the chief to check on the speeding and the possible installation of signs and a report made to this board. PRECINCT OFFICERS: The board ~p'pointed John Slipkowski, 46 Camden Street, as Deputy Ballot Clerk in Precinct Four to replace ~zlliam Callhhan who had been appointed previously. Because of Chapter 33, section 91, Mr. Callahan could bet be paid by .the town for any services rendered as he is now .receiving a pension from F. ssex County.. Retirement Bd. Mr. Callahan should be notified. REVOLVER PEP~K~T EENE~S: The board voted unanimously to renew the revolver permits for Donald E..:Hifton, John J. Dolan, Vft31 tam 'J. Morton, Gordon L. Freeman,Fctchard S.Hilten, Paul G. Dyer, John H. MUnroe, Maurice :Hennessey and Fred J. Doyle.
