The board received an in~-itation to attend the installation of officers to be held on October 29, 1951 at 8:00 P.N. and tho board voted toaocep= this invitation with thanks and they will m~ke an effort %o attend. DIVISIGI OF CIVIL SERVICE: Approval of the provisional employment of the following named patrolmen for a period of six months was received by the board: Ralph J. Bolderson, Augustine Walsh: Alexander Ness and Frank Howard. These four'men are provisionally employed for 'six months from September 22, 19%1 to March 22, 1952. MASS. SE~EC~ENS ASSOCIATION: Memorandum .received relative to several matters to be proposed~ at the-Annual State Wide Tow~ Meeting at Rockport, November 7, to be the .subject matter for bills to be introduced at the next session of the General Court. No action was taken by the,board although they did discuss firemen and policemen who might be killed or inJ.ured in their line of duty and felt that there should be some adequate machinery to care for them or their families without recourse~ to special legislation. To~ of North Andover ~ ' and-Marttm MaLlet of, Salisbury ware received and two 6opies were mailed back 'to Department of Public #orks, Boston~ Mass. after being singed by the b6ard; INSUNANCE~ Theboard discussed the various insurance policies and Mr. Coffin~plained the .~ emte~te of the various types, rt.wns determined that the special officers may he covered under the policy for police and firemen if they apr the premium of $12.00 per year and Mr. Coffin suggested that this matter be called to the &t~e~l~on of the chief. Mr. Coffin informed the board that he would like ~o suggest having an~ inventory made' of the building and contsnts by'a professional man sent out by the company as he felt that smae of the amounts were not sufficient coverage.
