The BOard had already received a notification from Highway Surveyor Ira D. Carry that this street is now in condition for acceptance by the town. £ hearing was set for December 3, 1951 at ~:45 P.M. and all abutters will be notified, town clerk will bs given a copy of the notice to a butters and i.t will be properly published. ~he Board vo~ed unanimously to have Mr. Janes Maker release the bond hosted by Mr. Nelb since the work has. now been completed. ' HEARING: GREAT POND ROAD: A hearing~cslled for eight o,clock P.M. was opened by Mr. Thomson who informed those present that Mr. Barker, County Engineer had plans showing Great Pond Rosd and the amount of land '~o be taken by the town in order to widen and alter this road whi ch is to ~e done under Chppter 90, by the County Commissioners. One hearing has been held by the County Commissioners. This road is narrow and dangerous and~it is~planned to.make it 25,~ wide'with a 6, shoulder~on e~h'side.' ~he abuttdrs present wer. s Fathers Sullivan and Donaghy, Mr. & Mrs. Jos~h Driver, Mr. Mazurenko, Mr. William Byrne, Mr. Charles Sullivan, Miss Eoziad and JchnF. Magnire. . . Mr. Byrne said he would like to talk with the State and County '~ngine~rs ~to see if. they would accept Stanleyville. Avenue which he understands-is to be gl%eh free itc the town. . · , , ,,,~.. . - Mr. Thomson then*read-a, letter from Richard Haphey-who wanted more information about the amount of land~ to be, .taken and., also a tel'egram'from stakl~y'Stefansky in which Mr. Stefansky stated that he wottld like to' suggest that the town' accept Stanleyvtlle Ave. which is 70 feet wide 'and is all s~one bound. 'He s~td' he' would give it free and clear %0 the %own forever.. He"mentioned the hundreds ok ~rees to be cut down on Great Pond Road and mentioned the. water washing over th~ road each .year. .Mr.....~Byrg_e~.talked a.b~out the garage he had planned .to build and felt :that takink -ana 'on ureat Pona ~oad side would affect his plans.and he went along with~ Mr] stefunsky's'suggestion and felt that the town:should take advantage of~accepting this ~and fi;es and clear. He s~id he would like to meet the County and State ]~ngineers and discuss the possibility of having them re-route GtgPond Road before ~he agrees to anything else. ~he .matter was left open and' another meeting will be arranged by-Mr. "Barker~' andthe State Engineers and this board will be notified $f the time and place of said hearing. Friday on Turnpike St. to'discuss 'with Mr. George Frost, the recommendation.of, the Lawrence G & ~'Co. for street lights to be installed in the vicinity of the college. .~heywill also check on Willow Street .as Miss r. otta Johnson has requested street lights in this location. She said there are homes-on this stree+- but no lights and they would like. one. at the corner of '#illow Street. STREET LIGHTS-FOSTER STREET-- DALE & '¥~/NT~I~ STREET. · - , ~ A commun/cation from Mr. Frost of the Lawrence G & E CO. relative to installing a street light on Foster Street which would require a photo-electric control was received. In the meantime Mr. Frost coiled to say that it would, be' better to install two light 400 feet apart on Foster St. and not have the photo-electric con~rol * ' ~he letter states that a light at Dale & Winter Streets would also reqair~ a photo- electric con%roi and the cost would be $36.00 per year. The Board voted to request two lights for Foster Street as recommended and if possible to do the same on Dale & ~inter Streets. ' ' Mr. Frost later informed. Mrs. Dearden by telephone that they would have 'to install a photo-electric control at Dale & Winter Streets but they would inst~ the two 1000 lumen lights on Foster Street, that would be 400 feet 'apart. NOTEMBER 24,1951: Mr. Thomson called to see if the board would grant permission to the North Andover Housing authority to block off or obstruct the following Streets: Baldwin, Gilbert and Brances while the drain project was going on.
