k'~ MBAIJ~ 1 AS S 0 OIAT~ ON-~J~IE
Anthony Camasso, Irwin Lamprin and John Maude came before the board to discuss the
matter of having the old Fire Truck kept down in their district during the dry
spell.
Mr. Thomson informed them that the truck is old but the board wants to.be as help-
ful as possible. He said that there would have to he someone responsible for the ·
truck, to operate it, service it and take care of it in general. The initial
problem iswhether or not the truck is worth having down there and where can it be
parked.
Mr. Camasso said it would be of some help in buring different areas. The water is
handy and the truck holds 800 gallons. He said he has an open shed where it could
be. parked and the key would be available for a certain group only.
Mr. Coffin said that Mr. Camass~*would not be strategically located. ~he truck would
be covered by insurance.
Mr. _'.I~t~prin said that only about six ~an would be willin~ to accept this responsi-
bility of the truck and it would a~ least be six miles closer t~an the regular trucks~
~he men decided to go to the fire station with Chief Hargreaves and look the truck
over and would come back to discuss it further with the board.

FIRE TRUC~:
Mr. Hargreaves returned to the meeting with the other residents from the Kimball
Association and they informed the board that the "Packard,, is in much better
condition than the truck. It actu~lly belongs to Civil Defense and is worth
about $35.00. They discussed the hatter of getting pump cans for the Packard
and the Chief said they would cost about $1~0.00 which he would like to purchase
if the Selectmen would give him permission to spend this money for this purpose.
Mr. Thomson made it clear that ~they were not trying to croat an auxiliary ~fire
department down there.
Mr. Camasso said' the Fire Department would be called fir~st and then the men in
that district would do what they could befzre the firemen got there. ~ He said
they would be under the Jurisdiction of the Fire Chief 'and would 'take orders
from him.
Mm. Hargreaves explained that he has $500 on Forest Fire Appropriation~ and he
would talk with Mr. Rockwell about the Packard and with the Advisory Board
abou~ buying the pumps.
Mr. Coffin said he was in favor of. doing something constructive, if it is '
agreeable and practical.
Mr. Thomson then suggested that Chief Hargreaves go down' to the meeting of
the Association and explain about the Packard and see what their reaction is.
Mr. Coffin said that we probably would have a truck and another station in
that section but it will.take time. He felt it very desirable to have fire
protectiun there.
Mr. ~homson then s~id that "experience,, will tell and at leas~ it is an attempt
to solve the problem. Re said the board may talk with Mr. Rockwell a~d with'
the Advisory Board about the expenditure.-
LITTLE LEAGUE!BASEBALL:Harold Trombly:
Harold Trombly came before the board in behalf of the Little League movement and
asked for permission ~o advertise on the fence a~ Waverley. Road. Be said they have ~v
permission to build the fence which will cos~ about $400. They~plan on selling signs
to pay for expenses, all money will be spent on the children,s expenses~
Mr. Trombly said that he felt that Section 6, (d) on page ~4 of the to~n report
would cover this reques~ and the BOard would give written approval for this advertising.
He said the fence would be 4' 'x 6' and the posts would face 'the s~ree~~. ~he Board
of P~blic ~orks. have given written permission to build the fence.
Mr. Finneran said.he had no objection to this and Mr. Thomson agreed~tha~ Section 6,
(d)-cover this, since it is a Civic Organization~
Mr. Coffin would say unhesitatingly that they go ahead ~ith this if he was sure that
it was O.K.
Later the board met with the P.~c~ea~$onal Council and' Mr. Trombly and they voted
una~nimously to gran~ permission to display or maintain advertising material on a
fence ~o be built at' the Playground an Waverley Road, for a period not exceeding
sixty days. Permission in writing 'will be sent to Harold T~mmbly.
DUMP SI ~UATZON:
R~lph Brasseur me~ with the Board to discuss the dump situation and he said he
did no~ have figures with him but he understood that it would cos~ 'abou~ $3,000
or $4,000 to fix the road, which includes the cos~ of the land, in the location
down off Boston Street.'
Mr. Coffin said that the Perry Street dump is becoming more and more of a nuisance
and the residents feel pretty badly about it. Be thought that the location off
Boston Street seemd ~o be the only one to answer the need. He suggested ~hat Ralph
investigate and get price of land and very defiui~e cos~ figures, check maps for
other locations, etc.He feels tha~ if the board leads up ~o a To~n Meeting, the
objectors will come forward at that time.
