BOARD OF TRADE: A letter of thanks was received by the board expressing sincere thanks for the use of Stevens Hall for the Frolic,s of 1952. DEPARtmENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: Reply to our letter requesting stop signs on Water Street at Elm Street was re- ceived and informs the board that the ma~er has been referred to the District Office. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS-CHAPTER 90. Notice received that the Commissioners have allotted under Chapter 90, Section 34, the sum of $10,000 for the improvement of Great Pond Road in North Andover, on condition that at leas~ $5,000 shall be contributed by the town a nd $5,000 by the County. Also that the sim of $500 for the maintenance of Chapter 90 roads in mne town of North Andover, on condition that a~ least $1,000 sh~ll be contributed by the town. STREET LIGHTRSQUEST: A request for a street light on pole 155, 302 Andover By-Pass wan received from Charles H. Lovering, which s~ated that it ms very~dark-at this location. The Board vo~ed to accep~ the request and request the Lawrence Gas & Electric Company to check the location and give the board their recommendation..Unanimous vote. PERMANENT WARME~ORIAL COMNITTEE: The Board vo~ed unanimously ~o re-appoint~ for a period of three years ~the present Permanent War Nemorial Committee who are as follows: John A. Cronin, 402 Sutton St. William F~ Rock, 61 Bradstree~ Rd., John Willis, 25 Saunders St., Edward Garvey, 182 Middlesex St. Francis Kittredge, 56 Academy Rd. Joseph Sullivan, 66 Bradstreet Rd. Fred Pitkin, 38 Milton St. James Maker, ll Merrimac St. John Boyle, 4 Oak Ave. DOG OFFICER: The Board voted unanimously to re-appoint John Dolan, 12 Ashland St. as Dog Officer for the ensuing year. BUILDING INSPECTOR: The Boardvc~ed unanimously ~o re-appoint NartinLawlor, 290 Stevens St. as building inspector for the. ensuing year. FIRE ENGINEERS:. ~he Board voted to hold over the appointments of the fire engineers until the full board is present. BIDS-CEMENT MIXER: TWo bids were received for the purchase of the old Cement Mixer and Leonard D. Boddy Equipmen~ Companywas awarded the sale of the mixer on his high bid of $32.00. The only other bid was from Joseph Duplain who bid $15.00. Mr. Boddy will be notified tha~ he may have the mixer ~pon payment of .the $32.00. MEMORIAL DAY COMMITTEE: ~he Memorial Day committee requested permission to hold their annual parade on May 30, 1952 and the board granted this request by unanimous vote. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLTC SAFETy: Notice received tha~ under the provisions of Sections 4 and 4A of Chapter 136 of the General Laws, any entertainment held on the Lord's Day, including musical entertain- men~ provided by mechanical or electrical means, such as Juke-boxes, television, sets, radios, etc. shall be licensed by this board. License is then submitted to the Commissioner of Public Safe~y with a fee of $2.00 for each Sunday, for his approval. A copy of this notice was sen~ to the Chief of Police. OPEN CELLARS: Attorney Charles Trombly called ~o say that the Board of Health would hold a hearing on Xpril 30, with reference to "Open Cellars,, and suggested that one or all members of the board attend this hearing. He also felt that the Building Inspector should be present. He asked for a copy of all the complaints which have been made to the Selectmen over a period of three years and would like to have them by ~Yednesday morning, if possible. He also suggested that ~rs. Dearden attend the hearing. ~he Board will attand the hearing, if possible, the minutes will be sen~ to Mr. Trombly and the building inspector will be invited by the Board of Health. Maker, in ~avor of North Andover-Boxford District,Dept. of Veterans, Services from April §,~1R52 1953. Bond will be in Sele file.
