~HIRD CLASS AUTO DEALER'S LICENSE:
The renewal efa Third Class Auto Dealer's license was approved unanimously
upon motion of Mr. Finneran, seconded by Mr. Sutclfefe, for Raymond W. Houghton
d/b/a Bob's Auto Parts.
CVIL SERVICE: In re Public Hearing
A communication was received from the Division of Civil Service regarding a~'~public
hearing to be held cz December 28, 1960, at 1:30 p.m. regarding the proposed
changes in the compensation plan which would become effective July. 1, 1961.
TOWN REPORT:
It was voted unanimously upon motion cf Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by.Mr. Finneren,
to advmrtise the printing of the Town Report for 1960. Bids will be accepted
until 5:30 p.m., December 27, 1960.
LAWRENCE GAS C~MPANY:
Gas e~cavation permit was approved, subject to Ira Carty's approval, upon motion
of Mr~ Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr. Finn oran, for Mark Road off Johnson Street.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. upon motion of Mr. Finneran, seconded by
Mr. Sutcliffe, and voted unanimously.

The Board of Selectmen met on this date at 7:30 p.m. for their regular meeting,
with ali memberi present and Chairman Finck presiding.
JOINT POLE LOCATION P~'A'&TION: ~
On motion of Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr. Finneran, hearing date for a Joint
Pole Location petition for Farnum Street, 4 poles, and voted unanimously, was
set for January 3, 1961, at %:30 p.m.
POLE AND' ~'IRE LOCATION P~z'-T~ON:
On motion 'of Mr. Finneran, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, hearing date for s Pole and
Wire Location petition (Boston Street) was set for January 3, 1961, upon a
unanimous vote.
ONE-WAY TPJ~'~'- C:
Because of a parking problem due to midnight Mass at St. Michael's Church, Mr.
Finneran motioned, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and ~oted unanimously, thatfrom~
11:00 p.m. 'to 1:00 a.m, on December 2%th, there will be one-way trsffic on Main
Street from Third Street to Water Street; there will be one-way traffic on
Merrimack Street from Water Street to Main Street. Parking will be on the left-
hand side only on Merrimack Street for those two hours.
LIGHTING SURVEY:
A letter was received from the MeA-A-imack-Essex Electric Company regarding a survey
for street li'ghting on Cross Street at the exit of Trinitarian Congregational
Church.' On motion of Mr. Finneran, second~ by Mr. Sutcliffe, it was 'voted
unanimously to appx~e said survey and have inst,~ation made' as soon as possible.
Mr. Sutcliffe said that many street lights still remain unlighted sin ~e the storm
of a week ago and recommended the Electric Company be notified. Mr. Finneran
motioned same, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and voted unanimonsly. Chairman Flnck
said the Town is patrolled twice a week and reco~ended that this matter be
looked into further.
SEC. OF C~ONWEALTH:
A communication was received from Se;. of the Commonwealth Joseph D. Ward re-
garbing the incorporation of the Ward II Civic Association, Incorporated to be
located in the City of Lawrence. One of the incorporators is James ~igoli ._of
North Andover. Mr. Sutcliffe motioned that the matter of investigation be re-
ferred to Police Chief Lawlor, ~ seconded by Mr. Finneran, and voted unanimously.
