Sutton Streets and end approximately 1,000 feet beyond Holt Road. Two curves
will be taken out of the road. The road will be straightened out on the northerly
side near Great Pond Road and also the curve near the Barker property. Many
abutters were in attendance including William Chepulis, Norman Hughes, George
Barker, E. J. Riemitis, A. Forgetta~and others; Mr. MacWilliams said there was
a severe traffic problem and that sight distance must be taken into consideration.
There were complaints registered from the abutters about the land taking and
other considerations, but Mr. MacWilliams said the plans had bean ~rawn most
carefully taking everything into consideration and that it would have to be.done
according to the specifications or not at all. He mentioned that un.e~ploymemt ~
was one factor for doing the road att his'time, and that the road had been pro-

B(~T(I~ & MAINE RAILROAD:
A letter was read by the chairman from the Boston and Maine Railroad regarding
the plan to relace manual protection at Sutton Street crossing in North 'Andover
with automatic flashing light signals, half-gates and pedestrian bells. The
selectmen voted to go on record as being violently opposed to the change' upon
motion of Mr. Finck, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and VOted Unanimously. As per
the railroad's request, a meeting will be set up, SUggested date of March 27th
in the Selectmen ,s Office, and invitations will be extended to the Highway
Surveyor and the Chief of Police.
REGIONAL INCINEEATOR: '~
An invitation was received from Alderman Suilme~ta of Lawrence to attend .a
meeting on March 28th in order to discuss a regional incinerator. Mr. Finck motioned
that the Selectmen go on record as being violently opposed to Joining a regional
incinerator at this time, seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and vOted unanimoUSly. How-
ever, it was agreed that the Highway Department and Board of Health be notified
in the event that they may wish to attend said meeting~
AIRPORT CC~SS~ON M~ETING:
A report on the meeting of March 6th was received from Dr. Zimny, wi44 a pro-
clanation included regarding the designation of Saturday, Nay 20th as Armed
Forces Da),.. Mr. Finck motioned it be accepted as read, seconded by Mr. Smtcliffe
and Voted Unanimously.
PETI~ON FOR JOINT LOCATIONS-- EXISTING POLES:
A petition was 'received from Merrimack-Essex Electric.Company and New England .1
Telephone and Telegraph Company for Joint locations, existing poles a.t Johnson
Street: from approximately 238 feet south of Andover Street, 2 poles. No public
hearing is necessary, l~r. Sut~liffe motioned permission be granted, seconded by
Mr. Finck, and voted Unanimously.
Approval was granted ,the Lawrence Gas Company on their request to excavate to
Mr,zepairSutcliffe,a gas leakandat, voted18 LexingtOn~nanimously.Street upon motion of Mr. Finck, seconded by
CERTIFICATE OF INSPECTION:
A certificate of inspection for equipment consisting of '~ortable on Water Dept.
Truck,, was referred to the Board of Public Works upon mol~on of Mr. Finck, seconded
by Mr. Sutcliffe, and voted unanimously.
GOLDEN JU~LEE--CANP FIRE GIRLS:
The Board issued a proclamation regarding Merrimack Valley Camp Fire Girls
Jubilee Week from March 17th to March 23rd.
EASTER SEAL' CAMPAIGN:
A Proclamation was issued for the continuation of Easter Seal services, and was
motioned by Mr. Sutcliffe, seconded by Mr. Finck and voted unanimously.
GANCER CRUSADE:
A proclamation was issued regarding the Csucer Crusade upon motion of Mr. Finck,
seconded by Mr. Sutcliffe, and voted unanimously.
