COMMUNITY CENTER:
The BOard granted the COmmunity Center permission to string a banner across
Main Street during their week-long drive for memberships during the week of
December 10th .....
L~TTEI~ OF CO}%~NDATION:
Bernard Bingham~ North Andover veterans, Agent, received a letter of high
commendation form ~]arles N. Colattos, Massachusetts Commissioner of Veterans,
Services. Acopy of the letter was sent to ~r. Bingham.
~R~SIGNATION:
William C. Lafond, part-time custodian of the Town Building, resigned because
of pressure of other duties. After voting to accept his resignation, Selectmen
Finck made a motion that George Boyle, 148 Water Street, be appointed ~o take
Mr. Lafond's place. The motion was seconded by Chairman Finneran, ~r. Sutcl~ffe
· , not voting.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.

LAWRENCE GAS LIGHT CONPANY:
· Permission was gzanted for excavations on Annis St., 51 Court Street, Johnson Street and
Chlgate Drive with the provision the roads be returned to their original condition ~after
~i::':: ' ~gas' service or gas mains had been installed.

COMPLAIATS:
Walter Gry~iewica, 88 Adams ~vena6 and Joseph Pytraf, 98 Adams Avenue, said that the Lawrence
Gas Light Company had spread clay all over the stree~ after making excavatioas. The Sole,
men voted to notify the company and ask it to examine the area and to return the street to .'
its original condition if the complaint were authentic.
Charles E. Oyr reported on surveys h~ made of Wood lend and said in his opinion the town was
responsible for the irainage problems expazienced by residents on that street. He suggested
Carl Lindfors that residents make up a petition to have the street accepted as a public way.
Lawrence H. Stabley, Jr., 26 Hemlock Street and other residents of that area~drainage complaint:
Mr. Cyr. reported his survey of the land behind the high school was responsible during the
Spring thaws for the bad draining condition. He suggested a system of drains to benefit the
fields, Hemlock St. an~ Spruce Street at s cost of $6,815. A more eleborate drainage system to
380/furnish additional protection to Beech, Walnut and Parker Streets would cost an estimated $10,-
