MASSAb~IUSETTS DEPARTM~IT OF CORPORATIONS AND TAXATION:
A request from the above-named corporation for a bond to the amount of $5~,000 on
treas~rmr, James J. Maker and $%4,500 bond on Tax Collector, James R. Dewhirst, was received.
LICENSE:
Rollins Saper Service, 50 Massachmetts Avenue, was grunted a Used Car Dealer's license, a
INVITATION:
The North Andover Retail Board of Trade invited the Selectmen to attend their monthly
at the Hi-Spot Restaurant. Nr. Moulton, Direc=or of the Chamber of Commerce, will be the
speaker. The Selectmen voted to make every effort to attend.
TREE REMOVAL HEARING:
The Selectmen set up a tree removal hearing for Monday, December 18, 1961 for Sam Solomon,
Boston, Street.
EMERG~NC~:.~
Declaration of an emergency was given by the Board of Selectmen at 6 P.M. on Satarday, Dec-
ember 9, 1961 upon request of Mr. Willtam Duffy, Supervisor of Publi~ Works who contacted each
Selectman by telephone. It was voted on formally at the Monday Meeting of the Selectmen, Dec-
ember 11, 1961, and put on record. The emergency involved the health and safety of the persons
and property in North Andover. It was necessary to remove a 150 horsepower electric motor at
the North Pumping Station,which had failed, to the White Electric Motors in Lowell.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 P.M.

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen ~as held on this date at 7:30 P.M. with
members present and Chairman Finneran presiding. Mr. Finck was absent because of the death of
his father.

and seconded by Mr. Finneran that the tree be removed as notices had beez posted for~ the
required period.

GRANGE HALL:
A motion made by Mr. Sutcliffe and seconded by Mr. Finneran regarding Grange Hall request
for an outside telephone booth near the ha~l was u~imously approved/ The telephone
will be notified.
C~MPLAINT:
William A. McAloon, 95 Greene Street, asked if a transcript had been prepared of the testimony
from Wednesday's hearing on the wine and malt application of Mrs. Emily Murphy. Mr. NcAloon
said he was intested because he believed those present received an erroneous impression that he
had opposed the granting of the license to Mrs. Murphy. Mr. Mc&loon said he was only opposed t¢
the granting of the license to Butcher Boy, Inc. of Salem, N. H. but had not opposed granting
the license to a local resident.
