Marsh, and Ray Kennedy for painting and renovating this ancient structure this spring. All bids w~re taken Under until the next meeting. APRIL 9thMEETINGS: At 7:00 p.m., interviews with reserve policeman. At 7:15, Mr. Goeb~ls of Lawrence Gas Light Co. will be present to discuss petitions for excavations at various places in town. At ~:30 p.m. Mr. Delaney from the Eegistry of Motor Vehicles and Mr. Caputo from the State Department of Public Works will meet with the Selectman~end the Chief of Police to discuss speed control on our streets and state highway cross-sections. COMPLAINT: Mr. & Mrs. Giard requested clarification of a situation whereby, if land on Mark Road were sold which was~ adjoining their property, would they have access to their land.. Mr. John J. Shields of Sherwood Homes, Inc. was requested to advise the Selectmen of the situation as it stood. COTUIT STREET: Nine CotuitStreet residents marched in with a complaint that their streetwas not developed as promised by a Reading contractor who developed the area. The street is a mud bog every spring and their cellars full of water. Ha~.of ~he ~e.aide~s. were assessed against their mortgages for completion of the street and now =ne smreem hash. =, oeen accepted by the Town at the Waverly Road end. ~he~Selectmen advised the residents they wnuld make a full investigation and would notify them of the results as soon as possible. REQUEST: ~e selectmen requested the Merrimack-Essex Electric Light Company make a survey for future street lighting on the corner of Garden and Main Streets to ~urch Street. SPECIAL TOWN MEETING: Articles.were submitted for a special Town Meeting, if there is one, by Mr. Norman Scott for= petitoners, of a sewer on ~dsm~Avefi~e. By Mr. Vincent McAloon, an article for rezening. STATE DEPT. OF PUBLIC WOP~S: RE NORMAN HUGHES 00MPLAINT. Letter regarding drainage problem of Mr. Hughes, 1003 Osgond Street was received by the S~le staking that certain adjustments would be made in the near future by the State foreman in INSPECTOR: Residents of North Andover were advised that the position of Gas ~nspecter was open for applican ts. The regular~meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date at 7:30 p.m. with all members present, Chairman Finneran presiding: 7:00 p.m. INTERVI~NS: Four reserve policemen were interviewed for the position of permanent status. Daniel QuinlAm, first in Line of seniority, declined, and the next two eligible men, Charles A. Nicosia end William J. McNehon were appointed permanent patrolmen. :15 LAWRENCE GAS LTGHT COMPANY: nference with Mr. Goebel 'of· the Gas Light Company was held on numerous gas excavations. cision~waS tabled until next meeting.~ 7:30 SPEED CC~TROL MEETING: The Selectmen conferred with Mr. Delaney of the Registry and Mr. Caputo of the State Depart- ment of Public Works re traffic control on pertinent streets such as Sutton Street where heavy traffic exists during certain periods of the day. They said they would make the usual survey to determine what speed limit would be proper for the areas affected. They made future plans to confer with Chief Lawlor, of our police department who was also present at this meeting and who, together with Chairman Flnneran, made the most constructive suggestions. Mr Caputo advised the Board that the town would have to pay for an engineering study under D.P. .s~Pervision:end"~znce Main and'Sutton 'Streets are not Stateh~ghwa~m, the town will also have to pay for the cost of erecting signs.
