The Girl Scoots* (Bro~mie Troop) planted some marigolds on the small front ~ of the T~ lng and it was voted to send them a letter of appreciation and thanks. PLA~ROGND STAFF: The Board of Selectmen voted to approve the staff of instractors submitted By the Reareatiooal 0ommittee . They are as follows: Kathleen Scanlom, S~pervisor, Oayle Sanborn, Elizabeth Stt~l- wall, Jane Phelan, Carol Thibault, Barbara Low, Robert Nurph¥, David Roberts, Ronald HcRobbio, Robert Parker, and ~ichard Mo2nihan. The four substitutes chosen are: Patricia Steele, Liana · ea, Wt~l~am Robinson and Thomas Swithenbank. Jwne 4, 1962. The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date at 7:30 p.m. with all members present, Chairman Finneren presiding: S(~OOL ~OSSING GUARDS: Seven members of the school crossing guard staff met ~ith the Selectmen, Police Chief Lawlor, Safety Officer, ~ank H. Duahame and Richard Haltmaler, Chairm~n of the Personnel Board. Mr. Haltmaler e~lained that.the amendment resulting in a pay increase could only be presented at the annual Town Meeting which is held in Narch and that to grant them an increase in .pay to be ire in September would be a direct violation of to~m regulations and laws. The amendment, ed by the three departments, Selectmen, Police and Personnel, contained the following: 1. RegularfC~ossing ~uards to be paid $25. per week for · 40 weeks per year, totaling $1,000. per school year to be presented at the next town meeting retroactive back to January 1, 1963. 2..Reserve ~uarda, substituting, to be paid $5.00 per day. ~ Cr.ossing ~uards to be allowed 1 sick-day per month. [ Clothing ~owance benefits to remain in effect, as is. The present schoeldc~ossing guards are.' Mrs. Theresa Morin, Mrs. Janet .~zle, Mrs. Mar~ Mrs. E~ith Hayes, Nfs. Dorothy F~eeman and Mrs. ~ary Stooe, Mrs. Helen 2acy. - STATE DEPARTMEtT OF P~IC WORKS: Re '~osaible State Road from Raytheon Plant to Waverly Road". Letter from H. F. MacWilliams, District Righway Eagineer, stated a "preliminary survey for the design, and cost estimate for such a road had been oo~leted by the Department of. Public Works." To date, no funds are available for the road's ccnstructioo. The Selectmen, under the suggestion of .Chairman Finneran, voted to ~-ite for the plan of said road. REFISING T0~N REPORT: Town Clerk, Johm J. Lyons, showed the Selectmen various town reports from different towns i~ anti- cipatton that No~th Andover's method of town reporting c~uld be made mare attractive and palatable The Board voted to meet with a representative of a Lowell firm that specializes in such reports on June 1§, 1962, at their Selectmen~s meeting.
