At the request of Mr. Lyons, the board proclaimed next week, Ju~e 10th to 16th, National Flag
Week ~d endorsed the fl2ing of the flag for merchants, industries and townspeople.
ROAD EA2ARD: Appleton and Salem Streets.
Selectmen Broadhead stated he had requests from residents of the Salem-Appleton streets area to
see ~hst could be done about a blind corner there. This corner, according to Chairmmn Finneran,
., would eventually be reconstructed via Chapter 90 work cz Salem Street by the end of. this year;
.: however, he suggested writing the D;P.W. office to ask ~.f temporary reconstruction could Be
ordered .to relieve the existing hazardous situation ~hile the overall, permanent congtrnction is

n invitation was extended to the Selectmen to Participate in the 4th of july Parade and the en-
suing festivities planned by the 4th of July Committee. The three Selectmen accepted with
ute. They also granted an "appropriate license" for the :ommittee to conduct their amusements
and 'concessions at the tw? .day celebration at D~mmond playgound, July 3, and 4.
LAWRENCE GAS CG~PANY:
Lawrence Gas company was granted permission to excavate in front of 12 Glenwnod Street to
a gas service for Salvatore ~auduni.
NO~$E MOVING:
John DLlendik, ~ Perry Street an~ hie father, Mr. ~oman D~lemdik sought a permit~to move ~
one, from ~ Perry Street ~and one from l? Beechwe~ Street to Zuglew~od Street. They were
that as soon as they submitted the proper measurements of the houses, the proper departments and
utility companies would be requested to submit the required reports and an answer to their
application would be forthcoming as soon as said reports were in.
The Boar~ announced that the North Andover coal company was the Iow bidder for 25-ton yoar,g
supply, for the ~town ~nfirmary. Their price was $21,OO per ton for premium coal.
The meeting was adjourned at~9,:O~ p.m.
The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date at 7:30 p.m. with all members
present~ Chairman Fiuneran presiding:
NFARING: Applicstion~ received by the Licensing Commission from Emil M. Nassey for ~ 2nd 'C1 .a~.s
Automobile Dealers License was denied unanimously because it was against the zoning by-laus, the
land is zoned for industrial use. A letter in oppoeitiou was received by the owners of the l~md
the licensee proposed to have his car lot, the Humble OiL-JConpany of Boston, Nass,
Mr. Joseph Casey ~d Mr. Daniel Bruce, representatives.of a street sweepe~ manufacturing X~Lrm,
appeared 'before the Board with highway foreman, WalterStamp, to illustrate how their sweeper
operated. The Selectmez stated that there was no fund available for such a machine no matter
badly it was needed. The machines would c~ost the town between $10,500 and $12,000,
of the year .and quarante~d to last 10 to 1~ years. Stamp said he would consider the purchase for
an article for the next Town Meeting.

action on both matters.
ROUSE NOVINGS: C~$TALDI AND DI~IDIK
The Dilendik house moving application ~was approved subject to a report from,Mr., Gassy of New Eng-
land Tel. & Tel. Co. A new application for 2 houses to be moved from §1 and 89 Massachusetts Ave
to Fernwood Stree~ by Angelo Cristaldi was referred to the usual departments and the utility com-
panies for approval r, sports. Decisions will be ready for next meeting, June 1§,
ATTORNEY G~ERAL:
The Town will recive $30~.00 as its share in the a~ti-trust settlement againat a chemical =mmpany.
