Notice was~ec~ved by the Selectmen of a hearing for the Narblshead Street R.R. C~ossing to b~e
held in the Dept. of Public Utility off~ces on June 19, 1962. Chairman Finneran stated that the
To~n has finmlly convinced (since 19~8) the county commissioners to petition for a hearing to re-
locate the road about-100 feet east of present location instead of eliminating it altogether as
the railroad wished because of Route 4~. One or mo~e member of the Board will be present at
~ea~. Representatives Ymgalls, Longworth, Williems And Senator Ruark were requested to lend

N~RRIMACK-ESSEX ELECTRIC COMPANY:
~e Board-received notices that street lighting ha~ been installed on the fcllowing streets:--
Forest Street, Neath Road, Great Pond Road, May Strest~ Winter Street, Osgoed Street.
LAWP~CE GAS COMPANy:
Petition to excavate on Harwood Street to install gas services at 2~ and 26 Harwood Street
was voted unanimously by the Board.
DEPART~ GF PUBLT¢ WORKS:
Notice was sent to the Board that there wnul~ be a highway impact survey in the Central
Valley.
Plans were not completed in form for a proposed new roa~ extending from the Raytheon Plant in .
Andovor to Waverly Road, Ne~h Annoyer. ~hen complste~ the Town would receive a copy.
$~CRETARY C~ HE CC~MONWEAL~:
A petition to incorporate was sent by Mr. Arthur Pruneau, 474 Waverly Rd, to Mcrx~Lmack Valley
Life Underwriters Association. The matter 'was referred to Chief Lawlor for approval.
A letter of thanks and appreciation was received by the Selectmen on behalf of 'the Town for the
Town's cooperation and aid ia making Armed Forces Day a success on May 19, 1962.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:4~ p.m.

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date at ?:30 p.m. with all me'ben
present, Chairman Firmeren presiding:
Town Clerk, John J. Lyons and Mr. John Ward, Printer, met with the ~oard to &scuss way~ and
means of making the Annual Town Report more attractive an& readable. ?he magazine type of
w~uld ~ot cost as much and v~ be a big improvement over the present one, Mr. Ward said. The
Board promised to discuss it fu~er and wcul~ make their decision in due time as to what mo~el
they w~ald agree on.
RESIGNATIONS: CROSSING GUARDS.
Mrs. Nary E. Stone, Mrs. Dorothy E. Freeman, and Nfs. Helen F. Tacy, submitted their
to the 'Board as of June 12th, stating as their reason that they were unwil~.ing to wait until
annual Town Meeting for a salary raise, though retroactive to January if .it goes through; the
only way a raise can be accomplished. The resignations were accepted with regret and the guards
commended by the Board for the excellcut work during their tenune as C~ossing Guards.
APPOINT~T:
Mrs. Theresa Morin, 22 Saunders Street, was appointed a permenent school ~rossing guard by
of Selectmen Oakes, seconded smd made unanimous by Selectmen Broadhead and Finneran.
:. Fire Chief Daw appeared before the Board to clarify the responsibility of the Fire ~n

trash barrel fires. He stated that burning should be restricted to barr~]sor
incinerators
with proper screening placed at a safe distance from buildings; that there should be no g
of "smelly" refuse after ?:O0 p.m. and that no garbage should be burned in the barrels at any
time.
The Board granted permission for the above cmMaany to excavate and install services at Narble-
ridge and Abbott Streets, 9 Lincoln Street and 4~ Beacon Hill Blvd.
MERRIMACK-ESSEX ELECTRIC CO.:
The Roard-was notified of an installation of a street light at Winter and Glencrest Streets and
recommended street lighting on Forest Street near the residence of George Fart and another at
29 Maple Avenue. These recouunendations were approved by the Board.
