He said ~na~ papers being handed out should be kept 150 feet away from the building. He said the booths are piled high with literature and there should be anything left in the booths. Mr. Thomson advised him to talk ~ith the Registrars as they are responsible for follo~ing up the statute. NOVE}.~ER 3, 1952: The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:00 P.M. with all members present. Weekly bills and payrolls were approved. LAWRENCE GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY: A hearing was held at 7:30 ~.M. on the petition of the La~rrence Gas & Electric Co. for permission to locate poles, wires and fixtures on the southerly and northerly sides of Ash Street, from a point approximately 200' feet easterly from Berry Street, easterly, 4 poles; on the northerly side of Farn~ Street~ opposite~Ash Street, 1 pole; and on the southerly and northerly sides of Farnum Street, from a point ap- proximately 220 feet easterly from Ash Street, easterly, 4 poles. The Board voted unanimously to grant this petition. The Board also voted unanimously to grant permission %6 the'Lawrence Gas & Electric Company ~o excavate to ins~ail gas.'main on Silsbee Road, North Andover (1.20' in street). ~he Board also voted unanimously to grant permission ~o the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co. to excavate to install two gas services for Robert Nelb, Si!sbee Road, North Andover (44 feet in street). APPLICATION TO CARRY REVOLVER: Halph R. Ooyce, ~7 Lincoln Street, North Andover, made application to ca.rry revolver. The Bosrd voted unanimously to grant Mr. Joyce a pistol permit. STATE HOUSING BOARD: The Board received a letter from %'fzlliam C. Geary, Chairmm% State .Housing Board, informing them that he haS appointed Edwin C. Murphy of 13~ Great Pond Road, North' An~over, Mass., as State Member of the North Andover Housing Authority~for a period of five years to succeed Roland B. Hammond, Sr., who term expired on July 27, 1951. Mr. 4~rphy's term will expire on July 27, !9~6. Another communication received from the State Housing Board advising tha$ recently copies of Chapser 617 of the Acts of 1952 were distributed to all local housing au~.orities. This Chapter authorizes the formation of redevelopment authqrities on a permanent basis for the purpose of carrying out redevelopment functions within a community. It further authorizes the extension of state credit on notes and bonds in the amount of $25,000,000 to such homes for evictees in the path of public im- provements. The State Housing Board is now prepared to confer with~any local govern- ing body or housing authorities concerning needs under this Chapter of our general laws. GOVERNOR'S OFFICE--State House: Communication received from Governor Pal A. Dever informing the Board that he recom- mended Mr. Edwin C. Murphy as the State Member of the North Andover Housi.ng Authox~ity. REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT: Le~er received from Arnold Stork requesting that the Board consider~ the installation of a street tight on Sslem~Street, opposite his home. The Board voted to view this location. DEPT.
