CHIEF MCKEE'S REPORT ON SURVEY:
The board discussed the report sent in last week by Chief McKee and Mr. Thomson
stated that he felt that the report shows that the chief should be supported in
his articles presented for the annual warrant.
Mr. Willis agreed that he should be supp~ted and that the survey does sustain
· his request that there is need for three men on duty at 'all times.' Mr. Willis
felt that there should definitely be two men in the cruiser on the late shifts
a~ ~he knew this to be true since he was familiar with the workings of the dept.
Mr. Thomson mentioned that'the Departmsnt~has been operating for sores time with
one cruiser and he never did agree that only one car should~be available. He felt
that we fortunate that nothing serious had happened. He~ f~eZs' that there should
be t~o cruisers.
Mr. Kirk was inclined to feel that they ought to have~ two ,cars ~and that one would
be available at all times~ He wasin favor of a second car burn'he would hope that
they wouldn't ask for two new1cars each year. If they~used them ~carefuliy and
Mr. Kirk feels that the mileage~ will' not increase any great amount, then they
~et one-new car each year.
Mr.-Willis said that the board should keep in mind that they can't go overboard.
He was. doubly in favor, of t~o men in 'the cruiser and felt that we had been
fortunate in the pas~. ~Referring to the Western Electric, 'the shift ~could be
arranged so that there-will be three' men. available. On the sphont 'problem the
most important time is in the morning and in the afternoon.·
There was a general discussion as to the time covered by two men' in%he~ cruiser
and this would give additi0nal~,prote.ction at night..: .Mr. Willis ~'stresged .th~im-~
portance of having two men in the cruiser at all times at night.
-"Mr.~ Th0mson agreed generally with~this 'problem and mentioned,~wi'~eYe fortunate in
...... hav*ng' only one~ incident' which happenedI at the Tnabched'.Roof' s0me'~,tfme
He thought we should go along with the ~chief s suggestzon and
have a further detailed discussion with the, Chief' before the' t~n,me~ting
Ail members agreed that the articles would be inserted/in the warrant .as
~" 'FIRST-AID CEASS:
..... Lt. Walter Corcoran requested.a location where he ,could set'
~wo~ hours weekly for ten-weeks. 'He felt that-more people should be familiar
this work. Mr. Willis said he would like tO meet wlth Mr.' Corcoran and'discuss
' ' this and perhaps they could, use"the'auditorium at the Bradstreet School to give
· imstructions;~ Mr. ¥~illissaid he,would t~ke this up with Mr~
back t0,the board. ~: --

. RECREATIONAL COUNCIL:
Seven members of this counctl' came before the board to discuss ,the possibility
of buying s~me land on E. Water Street' to be used for a playground. Mr.
· Bonnano said they had met with Mr. S. F. Rockwell and discussed possible locations
for this playground. There are twelve lots of land on E. Water Street and they
could buy four lots for $2713. These lots are 115 frontage and 300 feet deept.
After some discussion the board felt that this should be discussed with Mr.
P~ckwell ~o see if he would come down on the price, and then a special town
meeting could be held.
