The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on,this date with all members present,
Selectmen Fred P. Oaken, Raymond Broadhead with Chairman ~'inneran presiding.
APPOINTMENTS:
Calvin Snell and Dmua Fisher were unanimously reappointed to the Board of Fire Engineers for the
y~ar.
LAWRENCE GAS C~PANY:
Petitions to excavate on. Massachusetts Aven~e w~re held up for investigation as to ~y permission
was not requested before excavations took place. ~.~. Goebels will be contacted.
Petitions to excavate were approved on Harwood Road, Johnson Street, Rea Street.
BTREE REMOVAL: .
A hearing for a tree removal was set up for 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 13, 1963. Request was for
tree to be removed on lot after 55 Bradford Street near the water right-of-way of Western Elcc.
GASOLINE STORAGE HEARING:
A hearing wa~ set for gaso]/ne storage for Harold ~hipp!e, at 2037 Turnpike Street at 7:30 p.m. on
May 20,' 1963.
CEAPTER 90 FUNDS:
NotiCe of approval of Chapter 90 funds for town projects was received by the Board from the Mass-
achusetts Dept. of Public Works; $20,000 for ropahr and reconstruction of Salem Street with the
town of North Andover contributing $10,000 and the County, $10,000. $1,000 will be for town
repair with the Town contributing $2,000. ~ll streets repaired by the State must be maintained
the Town in' x~aich the work is done,
TG~N BUILD~NGUPAINTING:
The painting bid, delayed for investigation of the proper insurance credentials', was awarded to
Granville K. Cutler III, of Home Improvement Construction Comp~any, Andover, Nass. ~ho was low
bidder two~ weeks ago ~nen the bids were opened.
MASSACHUSETTS ELECTRIC CC~P~/~Y:
Notice: was received of increased street lighting installed on Dale Street and Adams Avenue and
¥.~ssaehUsetts Avenue. Also reco~endattons for two lights on Waverley Road from Turnpike Street
. to the ~dc~yline~were voted on ~nanimously by the Board.
REG, VOCATIONAL HIGH S~OOL:
Notice was received with data of the second meeting of that committee.
PRISON INDUSTRIES:
Notice re meeting on Nay 15th to be held at the Correctional Institution, Framingham, ~lass.
~}~S$. LEAGUE ~F CITIES AND TG~NS:
A proposal to ease the property tax burden on municipalities by a limited sales tax was redcived
by the Board. but not 'action was taken on'the proposal.
ANNUAL AUDIT:
A report on the annual audit was received from the department of Corporations and Taxation. All
town accounts were found to be in order.

I HEARING: 7:30 p.m. Tree removal petition was approved for Norman Len~ on lot above 55 Bradford
Street near water rights of Western Electric Company.
APPOINTMENT:
Julius B. Cohen, 21 Sawyer Road, North ~dover was appointed to be a member of the Town Yard Comm.
R~U~STS: '
Mr. Norman Scott and others requested and was granted his request for a wooden (temporary) street
sign for Wright Avenue.
Residents of Forest Street r. equested that a 'Bo Slow - Children" sign be installed on Forest St.
~he petition was referred to the Chief of Police for his recommendation.
MASSACHUSETTS ELECTRIC CG~PANY:
A petition received by the Board for three trees to be removed for land clearance for wiring ~hi~
is situated on town property. A hearing was set for May 20, 1963 at 7:35 p.m.
