Notice of installation of street lighting on Waverley Ro. and Turnpike Street, was received by~
the Board... The Board also voted to accept recommendations submitted for improved street lighting
in the vicinity of the residence of Mr. Becotte, 136 Hillside Rd. but tabled for further study
the survey made on Massachusetts Avenue from Greene Street to Chickering Road in the area of the
n~ school.
To~m Counsel: Re: Mrs. Warren G. Ogden complaint.
Letter from Town Counsel stated that manicipal paternalism does not, as y~t, extend to un~er-
~iting the cost of the prosecution or defense of controversies between individual citizens of the
town. The o~ner of the premises upon which water is being discharged, if he objects' to the same
should consult private counsel for advice as to how to deal with his private problem.

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was ~held on this date with Selectman Raymond Broad-
head, Fred p. Oakes and OhairmanWilliam A. Finneran ~who presided.
. (Esso) Humble O~1 & Refining Co., 135 Clarendon Street, Boston, Maas.lowest bidder of four compan-
ies was awarded the bid to supply 'gasoline.to the departments of the town. This bid was regular,
18.6 an.~ premi~um, 21.10 per_gallon. The other bidders were Raffner's Service Statlon~ Inc..~ ~aw-
fence, Mass., oyr Oil Co., Lawrence, Mass. and GuLf'Oll Corporation, Manchester,"N.R.

Mrs. ~ Griffin, Chlckering ~d., appeared before the Board with complaint concerning poison ivy and
water drainage from neighbor's Property onto hers. The Board will investigate .the matter.

Raymond D. MacLean, 389 Marbleridge Road, was appointed unanimously a resarvepolice patro~manby
~: the Selectmen at this meeting..He will fill one of two vacancies on the reserve patrolmen.

Stanley Boturlia appeared before the Boar8 stating that he was getting numerous complaints about
barking dogs and had quite a few unclaimed "strays" at his house.
David Rand appeared once more with the same complaint of excessive wat~ forming a small pond
on his land an creating a dangerouse situation. Ne said that the water reaches a depth of 3 or 4'.
at times. The Board agreed to arrange a meeting withH. MacWilliams .an~ H. Wilkins to. view the
situation at the site of the ~ater drainage. Mr. Rand stated that 1~0' of piping wnuld be needed.
