HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-01-06 Board of Selectmen MinutesThe regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with Selectmen Brcadhead, ~ Oakes and Chairman Ftnneran:present. ~ INVITATI ON: An invitation was received by the Board to attend the annual meeting of the Mass. Society~for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Jan. 22, 1964, 6:30 p.m. at the Merrimack Valley ~etor Inn. The Board will make every effort to attend. SKATING RINK: A letter from Mr. Duffy informed the Board that the basketball court at the Carl A. Thomas playground had already been flooded for the purpose of ice skating. MASS. ELECTRIC OQ: A petition for Joint location of e~isting poles was received and granted by the Board. location was on Abbott Street and~.t~.eipetition required no hearing. DEPT. OF NATurAL RESOUnd: A notification of the sums =11otted for insect pest control and elm tree disease was received by the Board and referred to the Tree Warden. REG. VOVA. TEC~. HIGH School District: Notice and report on the final budget of above-n~med school was received by the Board and the scretary will be advised to prepare an article for Town Warrant for same. HEARING CANCEIZATION: January 13, 1964. A hearing, originally scheduled on petition of Leone Real Estate for storage of fuel oil at new service station, 117 Main Street, was rescheduled for January 2C, 1964 at 7:30/ ing for Jan. 13th was cancelled due to technin~alitims. The hear- Massachusett League of Cities and Towns: A notice re the presenting of a plaque to the outstanding municipal employee at the annual banquet last April, was sent to theBoard with enclosed .nomination sheet for this ymars applicant. Many Articles for 2own Warrant are being prepared and filed. Electric Co., for pole and wire location on Clark Road was approved. J~ROR: Chosen for Jury duty at the February ~rd Sitting of Superior Civil Court at Salem~was Earl B. Warwick, retired insurance agent, 308 Marbleridge Rd. DEPT. OF CORPORATION AND TAXES: Approval was received for pa2ment of liabilities of $2,344.01 incurred during the snow-removal emergency declared on December 3, 1963 by Highwa~.D~pt. Supt., Ira Catty. SNG~-R~OVAL ~2~ERGENC~ES DECLARED: Emergencies were declared on December 12, 19, 23, and 26th; total cost, $12,232.75. Director of Accounts will be sc no~ified. MASS. ELEC. CO.: · Notice was received that improved street lighting was installed on Colgate Drive and Middlesex Street. STREET SIGN: A request fram C. T. Wilson, Narbleridge Rd. wins approved for a temporary wooden street sign to be installed on Marbleridge Road, Junction of Salem Street until permanent sign is made. ST~v~S LI~RARY BOARD: Notice was received that they had checked recommended repairs of Lu~bermans Casualty Ins. Co. and found that same had been received last year and acted upon. G~airman, Mr. Howe, wanted to know ~hy same.recommendation (unneccessary) was made this year by company. DEPT. OF PUBLIC WORKS: Notice received of Contract No. 21498 covering work to be done on Salem Street (G~apter 90) from James Cardin. Meeting will be arranged to discuss line of work to be done on street.
