: The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with Selectmen F~ed P.
Rapmond Broadhead and Chairman William A. Ftnneran present.
HEARING: TREE R~NOVAL:
A hearing for thc'removal of two trees for Alexander Uszynski, 437 Salem Street was approved.
Joseph G. Mot!n, 32 Sannders Street, was drawn for Jury Duty for the second session at
Civil Court, April 6, 1964.
SPEED ~ HIG~A~ UNDER CG~STRUCTION:
A telegram received from Attorney Petteruto stated that the Attorney General had not issued any
opinibn re rate of speed on highways under construction. He stated that he had talked with Mr.
Delaney of the Registry of Notor Vehicles who will meet with Chief Lawlor and the Selectmen
soon to discuss proper speeds to be posted on Salem Street.m
POLE LOCATI~L HEARING:
A petition for a pole location on Foster Street was set for a hearing on April 13, 1964, at
7:30 p.m.

The Central Merrimack Valley Planning District announced meeting to be held on Tuesday,· March
31, 1964 at ~:30 p.m. in t~he Methuen Municipal ~ffice Building.
SPECZAL POLICE GFFICER:
William Terrey, security officer at Merrimack College, was appointed a special police officer.
LARrR~NCE GAS O0.:
A,petition to excavate for a gas service on 15 Beacon Hill Boulevard was tabled ~mt~.~Tequest
of the Highway Dept. for the gas company to put the road back in proper condition. Mr. Goebel
will be contacted on the matter.
ANNUAL AUDIT:
A repo~t from the Department of Corporations and T~tion was received by the Board stating
town department books had been audited and found correct.
SNEER CC~NECTI(NS:
~r. Norman Scott appeared before the Board to state that unsanitary conditions existed on
Avenue because the majority of residents hsd not complied with the State Bmrd of Health
to have proper sewerage connections installed as soon as a main trunk hsd been put in. Only
four residents have complied so far. The matter was referred to ~the
~e~stigation and processing.
G~ :
At~*r~ey Finck appeared before the Bcerd to complain of gravel being taken in an area off
Boxford Street. He represented residents in that area. Operators of th6 gravel pit had been
ordered by Building Zuspector in October, 1963 not to remove gravel and 9peratiens had ceased
then but had started up again. Selectmen Brosdhead said T~wn Counsel had been notified and
the Selectm~n expected a decision soon.

shelter. The meeting will be at 8:00 p.m. on April 6, 1964 in the North Andover High School.

Three hearings for pole and wire locations were held for Belmont Street, Waverley Road and Mass.
Avenue. Ail were approved.

Petition for tree removals on Waverley Road and Mass. Avenue was received from the Mass. Etectric
Company and set. up for a hearing on April 13, 1964 at 7:30 p.m. Trees will be posted.

· ~ The contract for the purchase of two 1964 police cruisers was awarded to Manzi Dodge ~nc. of
hill ~ho submitted the lowest bid of $2,709.00. Shawsheen Motor Mar~, Inc. submitted a bi~ of
i. $2,§?0. and ~oedworth Motors, Inc. submitted the bid of $3,17~.O0. Voted at Town Meeting on
