The Selectmen did so. CIVIL DEFENSE SHELTER MEETING: The Selectmen, Supt. Douglas Chandler, Civil Defense Directors, Roland Kork and Francis Driscoll met in the new elementary school to discuss whether basement there would be adequate for a shelter It was agreed that it would cost too much to make it into a shelter. Other si{es were basements under the Police Station and the Town Building which will be looked into further. STREET NAFv~S TO BE CHANGED: Under discussion and tabled for further study was the proposal that the street names of Beaconhill and Bay State Road, divided by the construction of the new school, be changed to end the streets. Residents will be contacted on their views of the matter. FINN, DECEASED: The Selectmen voted to direct Town Clerk to insert an appropriate note in the Town Report of the passing' of the town's former, highly-respected and well liked To+m Accountant, May Finn, who died March 27,1964. The Town Building was closed on MOnday, March 30, 1964 until 10 o'clock to enable Town E~ployees to attend her bzueral. G~ ~GAR~UR: The Board expressed their regret and sorro~ at the passing of General MacArthur. BOARD GF HEALTH: ADAMS AVK~UE: The Board of Health reported that residents of Adams Avenue,~ho had not had sewers conne6ted with the Main Trunk line~hnd been sent a letter notifying them that they were required to do so. If request is not complied with, the State Board of Health ~rill be notified. FARREIL COKP!A]NT: Many residents having complained about the disorderly dumping of rubbish on the Farrell property, voted to request Mr. Farrell to clean up his land and gave him th~.rty day in which to do so. On May 4, 1964, the gelectmen will view hie property and if the necessary corrective action hasn't taken, the Town Counsel will be directed to take the necessary legal action. AND N.E.TEL. & TEL. CO.: A petition of The above-named companies for joint pole locations on Foster Street, 4 poles, was approved by the Board. TREE HEARINGS: A petition from the Mass. Electric Co. to remove four trees on Waverley Road and four trees on Chestnut Street for line clearance was unopposed and approved by the Board. RSGIC~IL SCHOOL: A notice +ms received of the 45th and 46th meetings. INVITATICE: An invitation ~ms extended to the Board to attend the Chamber of Commerce 9th annual Seminar on Thursday morning, April 23, at the La~ence Boy3m Club. OF APP~.LS: Notice received of hearing for Albert Steinberg for permit to remove earth materials from the north side of Pond Street. LA~.~RENCE GAS CO.: A petition was approved by the Board for a gas company excavation in street opposite 173 Maas.Ave. ~_AD G:~ LANE: Attorney ~,'Allis appeared before the Board asking ~hy street lights had not been installed on ow Lane. A check of the Secretary,s correspondence revealed that the electric company had been sent a letter on October 29, 1963 approving the company's recommendations and requesting tion of same.
