Finneran announced that the long-awaited meeting between the Board and 2rhffice~:engineers would be held on Monday, at 11:00 A.M. on July 20th, to discuss the many needs and requests of this Board, pending three years. CI~ DEFENSE: Civil Defense Director, Jack Farrell, asked permission to send letter to Dewey. I~er, former director,to answer questions and resolve se~erul'problems, unsolved, that e~lsted during the former~s tenure of office. A previous letter from the Selectmen to Mr. Dyer requested that he meet with them and Mr. Farrell on the same problems after July 13th. No answer as yet has been forthcoming. Mr. Dyer mow resides in Forest Hills, The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. Alice M. Letarte, S~cretary. Clerk August 3, 1964 The regular meeting of.the Board of Selectmen was held on this date with Selectmen Fred P. Oakes, Raymond Brosdhead and Chairman William A/ Finneran present. Mr. Broadhead, becoming ill, had to leave before business matters were completed. MEE~.ING: Mr. Petrie of Blue C~oss, Blue Shield conferred with the Board re Town premiums and costs; STREET LIGHT P~UEST: Mrs. Ralph Powell, 121 Farnum St. requested a street light installed on her street and it was so voted. STREET SIGN P~UESTS: A Street sign for Silsbee Rd. and a request from Mrs. Rose Ventr~l~o, 15 Wood Avenue, stated that the sign already there needed re-lettering. The Board's vote was unanimous. MASS. ELECTRIC CO.: Notice of street light installations on Dale St, Holt Rd. and Andover St., were received. N.E.TEL. & TEL. CO.: A petition was approved for joint pole installation and relocation on Sutton Street. LAWRENCE GAS CO.: Petitions to excavate on Sutton, Merrimack, Osgood, Johnson St. near Milk St. and Johnson Street were approved. BUILDING INSPECTOR (SIGN) A letter from Mr. Foster stated that the J.P. Stevens Mill sign was in order. REGIC~AL VOCATIONAL SCHOGL: Notices received of the 58th and 59th meeting. LAND-TAKING: A letter outlining land-taking procedures was referred to Town Counsel; Attorney General re eminent domain was referred to Tows Counsel. also, a letter from PUBLIC HEALTH: A letter on town sewerage and water mains from the State Dept. of Public Health was referred to Mr. Duffy, BoagdoSf Public Works. t;-v, ,. DEFENSE: Letter from Civil Defense was referred to Civil Defense Director, John Farrell. IRA CARTY P~NSION: Atty. Charles Trombly and Rep. Williams of Andover were present at this meeting to advise the Board of the work accomplished by the two and the results. The pension will be on the ballot in the November election to be voted on bythe Townspeople. SG{0OL SURPLUS EQUIPMENT: The Board voted to advise Mr. Chandler, School Superintendent, of the various needs of the Town Dept's in regard to surplus equipment. They suggested that following this procedure that townspeople should be told about the equipment and have it advertised for sale, .also. Equipment now stored in the Town Infirmary should be offered at this sale or disposed of. A record of the total procedure must be presented to the Board of Selectmen when the matter is concluded as required by the Town By-Laws.
