The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, September 14, 1964,
with all members present, Chairman William A. Finneran presiding.
JU~0R:
Juror chosen for the Superior Court at Salem, Mass. on October 5, 1964 was John Corrigan,
14 Woodbridge Road.
HEARING:
Petition for buried cable location on Great Pond Road, Pole Nc. 29/656 across G.Pond
Road s.e. to Property Line, approximately 43 feet of buried cable was approved by the
Board,
.7.. REQUESTS:
A letter received from the D. P. W. advised the Board that "consideration is being given
to all seven subjects"re the roads in North Andover. "They we~ not prepaned to mske any
commitments on any of them but, within the month, would furnish the Board with specific
information concerning what we may be able to do, or whether or not we will be able to
proceed on any part of the program." The letter wes signed Daniel S. Horg~n, Chief Eng.
Copies of the letter were sent to Representative Iongworth, Williams and Betteruto per
request of Selectman Broadhead.
On the sam~ matter, am anwer to their letter ~co6overnor Peabody for a meeting with him
was received from the appointments secretary, Richard E. M~Laughlin who said that after
the 10th he would be.-pleased to arrange a mutually convenient meeting.
. Representative Longworth appeared before the Board to advise them that he had contacted
Warner and others of the DP~ and is quite confident that the the lights, at~A~ain &
lng P~. and sidewalks on Mass. Ave. would be accomplished. He said that the breakdown
lanes could becorrected a~ a cost of two or three thousand dollars with a new process.
INVITATION:
Selectman Broadheed will attend the Annual Youth League's Banquet on Saturday, the l~.th;
~epresenting the Board in response to the invitation sent to them.
LETTER OF TRUNKS:
A letter of appreciation and thanks was sent to the Board from Mr. Sidney B. Coleman,
247 Farnum Street, for the prompt action taken on his request for marking of traffic
lanes on Johnson Street for the safety of the residents there. The Highway Dept. and
Chief Sawlor were also thanksmd.
LAI~RE~CE GAS CO.:
Apetition to excavate on Johnson Street and install 5 gas services there was approved
by the Board. A police officer will be requ~ed.
¥2SS. ELECTRIC CO.:
Street light surveys will be requested for Abbott Street and Turnpike Street, vicinity
of McLays Garden Center.
GASOLINE BrDS:
Bids for To~n Building gasoline will be advertised and opened at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 28th.
CC~TTEE MEETING:
Announcement was received of first formal meeting jointly with the Haverhill are Comm~
and Boston Regional Planning Board on Thursday evening, September 24 at 8 P.~. , Council
Chamber, Haverhill City Hall.
UN CHAIPJ~AN:
Rev. Donald Clark, in a letter to the Board, expressed appreciation for being appointed
UN Day Chairman but advised that he would be out of town at that time, the 24th of Oct.
Therefore, the Board appointed John J. Lyons, Co-Chairman of the UN Day.

Notice received of the Regional District School Committe 62nd meeting.
CONSERVATION:
Letter received from the University of M~ss. re conservation.
REPORTS:
Reports from the Highway Dept. on their chassis bids and sale and from Charles Foster re
trailer occupancy were requested for the next meeting from the Board.
Mr. Nicholas Ventrillo, 14 ~ood Ave., appeared before the Board advising them that in
the Spring and during every rain, water cascades down Sutton Street onto Wood Ave.
