The meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on this date, Friday, at 4:00 p.m. due to the fact that their next regalar meeting date fell on a holiday, October 12. MASSACHUSETTS ELEC. CO.: A survey for improved street lighting was received by the Board and it was voted to have ~ lights installed on Turnpike S~reet, vicinity of McLa¥'s Garden Center, on poles 1516 and 1518. POLE LOCATIONS: Two hearings were set for pole locations on Salem Street for Monday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. REP. PETTORUTO: A letter was received from Rep. Pettoruto advising the Board of the installation o£ vehicle-motivated traffic lights, corner of Main Street and Chickering Raad, and sidewalks on Mass. Ave. vicinity of the new school next week also stated that the accomplishment of these projects was due to many people, not Just one. The Board voted to send him a letter of thanks and appreciation, for his continuous effo~t~ in these twnprojects. MEETING WI~WWARNER, DPW: The Board discussed and proposed a meeting withMr. Warner in the neer future to discuss the possibility of the State resurfacing Nass. Ave. and the probability that the Town wouldmsintain it afterwards. RESERVE PATRG4M~N VACANCIES.~ At the request of Chief Lawlor, the Board would request the Civil Service for an eligible list of two men to be appointed Reserve Patrolmen to fill two vacancies in that department. RESID~T~I~GINEER, RT. 495: A comm~ni~ationfromVartanNooradtan advised the Board that on Thursday, Oct 8, at 2:CO p.m. the temporary detour on Route 49~ will be discontinue and the reg- ular roadway resumed, on Massachusetts Avenue. An invitation was received from Mr. Lee Brow, Vice-President of the State Chamber of Commerce .to attend a luncheon at the Boston Naval Shipyard at 11:00 a.m. on · October 13, the meeting to discuss the retention of the Boston Naval Shipyard. REGIONAL S~OOL DISTRICT COMM: Received a report of the 63rd meeting of the RSDC. CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR: Jack Farrell Civil Defense Director, reported to t~e Board that he had that aft~- noon,spent ~½ hours with the Regional Director revising and discussing many problems relating to Civil Defense procedure. ADVISORY BOARDNOTICE: A notice was received from the Advisory Board requesting all dspartments to submit as soon as possible their budgets for 1965. DFC. J.D. FITZGERALD: A letter of appreciation for the thank-ycu letter sent by theBoard to himwas re- ceived. The Board hsd sent him a letter of pppreciatton for his efforts in tw~ of the prime projects requested for three years now in the stage of accomplishment.
