Letarte, Secretary. December 21, 1965. The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with all members present, Selectman Raymond Broadhead, Fred P. Oakes and Chairman William A. Finneran, presiding. Walter J. Cushing, 23 Dana Street, a truck ~iver, was ~rawn for jury duty in Superior Oourt, January il, 1965, at Salem, Mass. JOINT POLE LOCATION: A hearing on petition to install Joint pole on Barker Street was approved. A hearing was set for January 4, 1965, at 7:30 p.m. for Joint pole location on Marbleridge Rd. T~ANK-E)U NOTE: A letter of thanks was received from the BeverleySchool for the Deaf. APPOINTMENT: John Monterio, J~., 111o salem Street, was appointed their representative to the Boston Regional Planning Projects Transportation Coordinating Co~,dttee on Highways. Street Light: ~ Notice from the Electric Company re the installation of a street light on Magnolia Drive. DIRECTOR GF ACO~JNTS: ~ A letter was received authorizing the Town Treasurer to pay anow-emergancy bills out of available funds. GAS. C~AN Y: A petition to ex6ava%e at 12 Pembroke Rd. was received and approved by th~ Board. TRANSPORTATION: A letter from Thomas Lentha~, an instructor at B. U. offered assistance to the community in devising ~plans to settle the co~,~uter transprotation problem. .T~.e Selecl~_~n advised a reply .to be sent to Mr. Lanthall, that they would be glad to discuss h~s proposaIs any Manday night at their meeting. (~R~PTER ()90 Work: Received notice from the DPW approval of maintenance work completed on' Main Street; state will reimburse the town one-third of the $3,000. Cost .of th& work. REGI(NAL SCHOOL: Notice received of the 68th meeting of the RSDC. LAND TAKING: Letter from the Boston & Maine R.R. re taking of railroad land in North Andover on Marblehead St. which'was referred to Atty. Chas. Trombly. BONDING: Letter received from Dept. of Corps. and Taxation re bonding of Tax Eollector, Town Treasurer and Town Clerk, referred to departments fn~ approval. SNG~ REMOVAL EMERGENCY DECLARED DECEMBER 20, 1964, AT 9:00 A.M. PAR~G BAN: On Chris~mas and'New Year's E~e, The Board decreed that the winter parking ban be lifted because, of social activities with the stipulation, that in event of an unexpedted snow storm, townspeople would cooperate and take their cars off the roads. TO~N Bt, ~.nING CLOSING: The Board v~ted to close the Town Building on Thursday, December 24, at noon, to enable employees to take care of last minute preparations for Christmas. They, as A Board, extended their greetings to the Townspeople for a ~ery Merry Christmas. 8:$$ P.M. JOINT NEETING: A meeting with the School Co,,,ulttee members took .place at this time to appoint an interim member to fill the vacancy left on the School Board by the untimely death of Dr. Thomson. J~ne .appointment will last until Narch elections when the member will have to be elected x-or the post. George F. Fit.zPatrick, 100 Colgate Drive, was voted into the vacancy.
