~ STREET PROJECT: · ,
Following a report by Chairman Raymond Broadhead on mhis and~Highway Surveyor, ,Nicholas
Nicetta~s attendance at a Chapter ~0 meeting with the county commissioners in Salem '
last week, the Selectmen agreed to seek increases in the town's Chapter 90 allotment
to speed up reconstruction work on Salem St to which the town had been co~nttted'uuder
Chapter 90 funds by vote of a town meeting 3 years ago. Broadhead stated that Commiss-
ioner Pratt had suggested that federal funds might be avialab~e for the project if
the street were widaned to 60 or 70 feet, but the Selectmen noted that this would, eh-
' tail considerably more land-taking and w~s not applicable.
The commissioners advised the Board to ~rite a lett explaining the problem and they
would bring it up at a meeting with the state D?.~ on Chapter 90 fund allotments on
December 8. The Board voted to write the letter, and to attend the meeting personally.
