RECREATIONAL COUNCIL:
William P. McEvoy, Chairman, attented the Selecmmen's meeting to explain his budget for 1966,
Me .recommended increasing the wages for .playground instructors from $25. to $~0. per week,
playground .supervisor, an increase from $36..to $50. per week. Ne intends %o appoint a boy
next summer to the supervisor's post making him responsible for the evening baseball program
at the playgrounds. Ne increased the-expense budget by $500. noting that he had scrimped
and borrowed equipment from the Booster Blub during the past year in order to save funds for
Christmas vacationjweek skating program and ~us transportation connected with it. Equ~pmant
has to be ·repaired and adding to the program this increase was necessary. Chairman Broad-
head said that Mr. McEvey's salary should be increased end recommended that the present sal-
ary of $250. per year be increased to $300. per year. Selectmen Oakes and Ftnneran
and the increases will be included in the budget submitted to the Advisory Board.
TOWN WARRANT:
The' Selectmen officially opened the Town Warrant at 7:30 p.m. this evening, December 13,196~.
The warrant will close at 9:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 1966. Articles for said warrant
must be submitted during this time to have signatures verified by Town Clerk .
CHADWICK STREE~ pLAYGROUND:
The Board will meet with the Lawrence City Council on January lOth mo discuss the purchase
of additional Airport land for the playground.
N~N FIRE STATICS:
The Board directed that a letter be sent to Edward R. Greenwood, 300 Chestnut St.,
of the Citizen's. Committee interested in the building of a neW central fire stati~
be requested to, submit an Article for same during the required time.
The ~.Board requested a letter be senm to the Department of Public Works for an emplanatton
to why.a portion of Sutton Street approaching china Blossom Restaurant has been left in'such,
poor .condittcn~a~ter excavation for seWer installations. They directed that no' work could ·
be done in North Andover by Ramey Construction Company until the situation had
