ONE-WAY STREET REQ~E~TS-- Requests received to have Herrick Road, Parker Street and Williams Street made into one- way streets were referred to .Town Counsel for instructions as to the proper procedure in this matter. "STOP" $I~ RtltUEST: Requests were received to have Stop signs installed at the corner of Oreen and Main' Streets and the corner of Elm and Main Streets. The first request was disapproved as the Struc~ ture of, said intersection was not applicable to a Stop sign. The Board approved having stop .sign installed-at Elm and Main Streets and referred the matter to Chief Lawlor to ~ have a traffic survey made prior to a peti$ion to the state ~ for the sign. STREET .LIGHT:REQUEST: GLEN~OOD RD. ~'A request from Mr. William Brennan to have a street light installed on an existing pole on GlenWoofl Road was referred to the electric company for a survey. A petition was approved to excavate in the vicinity, of 61 Church Street for gas services;:i SALE~ ST. ~IDS: ' A list of bidders for the Salem St. reconstruction was received from the 'state DPW who stated'they would award the c~ntract to the lowest btdder~ $eorge Brox Inc., St;, Dracut, Mass. (Bid,S94,54§.30) unless1they heard to the. contrary from theBoard.. · The Board approved and directed a letter be sent to that effect. ROADSIDE COUNCIL.~ A report was received re Home Rule as regards to out;doDr signs. SALES TAX: The co,m~ttee for. retention of the-sales tax sent a suggested publication for the Board to act on or not. They voted not to. ~NK' YOU LETTER,~: It~was v~ted to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to the Civil Defense Director, "~ohn H. Farrell and his communications units for the fine work and service rendered on Halloween night protecting both the chilclrmn and citizens of the town by patrolling the strests. : Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Segal, 780 Massachusetts Ave. were also voted a letter of thanks and appreciation for permitting 57 feet of their wall on the Osgood Side of their prop- erty to be razed to a heighth of ~wo feet 'to ensure better visibility to motorists who are crossing the intersection of Osgood Street and Mass.
