Also for the area around 4TI Andover Street, residence of Dr. Moulthrop. C~VIL DEFUSE: John Farrell, Director, advised the Board that equipment that wae costly to maintain, -'['.namely the "Duck" that has been in storage and unused could be. sold as he,had been in receipt of an offer. The Board approved the sale of' same after Mr. Farrell had ob- tained p~-,,,is~ion for the sale from the surplus dept. of the government. Mr, Farrell also had been requested by Western Electric officials of a possible tie-in~ to his radio 'co~mmmications s~stem. A Mr..Lane .obJectad~ to the ~way Mr. Subach was rebuilding a shack to make into a home situated.near Lane's property and the Atkinson School. After considerable discusion between Mr. Lane and Mr. Poster, Chair- man 0akes instructed the Building Inspector that the problem was under his Jurisdiction, that Bm should make certain that the building was reconstructed according to the Building Code, that this was his Job, not the Board of Selec~mems,. Mr. Lane said he would have to go further for satisfaction evidently not having any surety that the Building Inspectmr would adhere to the zoning laws in this matter. COMPLAINT: Philip Sutcliffe appeared before the Board to register his objections to having Herrick~ Rd. made into a one way street. Be was advised by the Chairman that the DPW had been conmac~ed for instructions in the proper procedure and that, as soon as they had received ~a reply, would set up a Hearing on the matter at which Sutcliffe could present his obJections.~, Des- .pite this statement, Sutcliffe went on, at length, despite the fact that the DP~had:~.ad~ vised this step for safety reasons. Sutcltffe also wanted to know if a directional .arro~ could be -installed on the lights at the ~ ~i~tson's cor~er intersection to permit~ehicIes coming from Andover could make a right turn without ~wait+~g~for regular green light~ The Board took this suggestion under advisement, COMPLAINT: ~A Mr. Kent appeared before the Board to ask if the state could make an area on Rt~ ~114~ in the vicinity of his home, a No Passing Zone, because of the dangerous situation of speeding cars passing on a three-lane highway. Healso reguested the stree~ light ~be moved across thz road because of the dark area there. The Board said they would b~ touch as soon as possible with the DFC. SEGAL WALL: TreeChairmanDepartmentOakes reportedhad removedthatthethetreefinalstump.Secmi°n of the Segal Wall had been taken down and the T~4N INFIRMARY AUCTI~: A report on the auction at the Town Infirmary revealed that the town hsd netted the ~amount of $880.00. It was very well attended despite inclement weather. The Board of Selectmen requested all flags in the town to be flown at half-mast on Nov. 22nd in memory of our beloved President Kennedy assassinated on this date three years age..
