The Board of Selectmen held their regular meeting on this date with Selectmen William A.
~Fiuneren and Ralph E. Finck present. Selectman Fred P. Oakes was on vacation.
SALON STREET RESIDENTS:
A meeting was held with residents of Salem Street, living in the' vicinity of 555 Salem St.
to discuss problems connected with the Salem St. reconstruction. Mr. & Mrs. Wood, Mr.
Mrs. james Kenny and Harvey Jackson were present with the Highway Surveyor, Michael
DPW Engineer and his assistant. After considerable discUssion, it was decided .that a
better understanding could be achieved if everyone met at the section of Salem Street in-
volved. On Wednesday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. it was agreed that Mr. Lespasio, the Resident
Engineer, the Selectmen, Fire Chief~ police Chief, William Dully, Public Works and a repre-
.santative from the Gas Company would meet and resolve the problems of the location of a
fire hydrent, water lines, reseeding excessive ground left by the relocation' of the road,
~hard-topping a driveway and eliminating a private road where "parkers" were making a
nuisance to the property owners.
LAWR~NOE~NORTR ANDOVER BOUNDARY LINE:
A letter of confirmation was received from City Engineer, santos Nicolosi, re meeting in
'the~Selectmen's office, May 2, at 2:0Op.m. with the Lawrence City Council, Mayor, Engineer

Mr. Wa~ter, 1099: Salem Street, ?posted before the Board to state that. property owned.By;
Mr. :Gallant, vicinity~ of Boxford and Salem Streets, was being used as, a disposal site,'
/ large tree stumps ;' .garbage~ parts of old ~ars, etc. were being dumped there'. As,this,area,
is re'sidentia~ Mr., ~reen'- stated 'that. it not: only depreciated the value, of,
~ut it also created a health and safety hazard to' the chil~ran. The stumps are in swampy,
· deep ~water end a child 'could never get out if he venture~ into the area.
He alsb stated that with all kinds of tree stumps, including diseased elm trees,
homes could become t~ected with termites.
The Board voted to notify the Board of Health and the ~,flding Inspector requesting an
investigation of the corotint end report of said investigation.
HER~I= ROAD GIE-WAY:
The Board voted ~e matter of Her~ick Road be set up for a hearing on May 8, 1967, at 7:30
P.M., the hearing to be advertised in the Eagle-Tribune. A representative from the
~W office, Danvers, will be present at the hearing to substantiate the need for this Order.
