OTR~PJ.]~ATTERS:
The Board voted to contact jacob~' Berkover, District Highway Engineer, for information
as to time the reconstruction of Rt. 114, Chickering Rd. and Andover Stree~ would begin.
Mr. Berkover informed the Board's Secretary, Mrs. Letarte, the follo~ring day that repair
work would begin as soon as the weather would permit; that the contracts had all been
processed.

The Board of Selectmen met on thts date with Chairman Finneran and Selectman Finck present.
Selectman Fred P. 0akes was on his second week of vacation.
BLUE C~OSS- BLUE SHIELD:
The Board met with Mr. petrie and Town Treasurer, James Maker, to discuss the new proposed
program of medical insurance. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to have Mr.
Petrie meet with the town employees next Monday, MayS, at 8~00 p.m. in the Fire Dept.
hall whe~ he would answer all questions and explain the new program.
STREET LIGHT REQUEST.' " '-
The Board voted to have a survey made for a street light, vicinity of the john O!Connor
residence on llO~:Farnun Street. -'

m the advice of Town Counsel, who.stated in a~letter to the Board, that the Town.By-Law
required a planning Board of Appeals and that the present Board of Appeals could also
act as the above-named Board. The Board voted to appoint John J. Shields, Daniel O'Leary,
Arthur Drummond, James A. Deyo and Donald J. Scott, as the counsel, advised.

Jacob Berkover reported per telephone conversation with Secretary, Mrs. Letarte, that
repairs of Andover Street, 0hickering Road and Roume 114, Turnpike Street, would begin
.as soon as Spring begins.." He further noted the s~owstormthe previous Friday,.but
stated con~ractshad been put out for bids and awarded. ..
SAFETY L~I~ ~EON:
The Board of Selectmen were invited to attend the annual Mass. Safety Luncheon at
Merrimack Valley Motor Inn, Wednesday, May 3. North Andover Safety Office, Frank Dushame
had previously been elected as President for. the year, 1967.
SEALE~OFWEIGHTS &MEASURES:
The Board received a letter from Ernest J. Roberts who will resume his duties as Sealer
of Weights & Measures after a sixmonth's leave of absence.
RETIPJ~E~T:
Notice was received of the retirement of Thomas K. Wainwright from the Fire Dept.
cause of ill health.
GAS EXCAVATI~S:
Petitions were approved to e~cava~eon Appleton and Summer Streets to install gas services.
ANNO~NOEM~NTS:
A letter announcing the 44th Annual Congress of Cities, Boston, July 28 to August 2 was
received.
Annual letters to Republican and Democratic leaders of North Andover due to ~e sent out.
